This rolling knife sharpener makes sharpening extremely easy. A well-made kit that includes everything one needs to create an edge and properly bevel a longer knife. This works well for any knife, particularly kitchen knives, longer than three or four inches. Shorter than that would probably work, but would present a challenge from a geometric perspective, as the abrasive disk is about two inches in diameter and needs to roll freely. I think the bevels offered by the magnetic block (15 and 20 degrees) work well in the kitchen. Usually, I can tell just by matching up the knife and the sharpener which angle is closest. I suggest going with whatever is already there; this sharpener kit probably is NOT the best way to re-bevel a knife - but I also don't believe that's its purpose. The only caveat to this is that some knives will absolutely have different bevels from the factory. We have one that honestly looks like 18 degrees, so we just try our best. It will get there sooner or later. With a matching bevel, it won't take much to achieve or maintain a great edge with this kit. I know cartoons make a big deal out of a turkey carver with a sharpening file rod, but most people will probably only ruin their edge with one of those. They take practice and skill. This simply DOES NOT. Anyone, and I mean anyone, can get a great edge with a rolling sharpener like this. And, most importantly, it can be done safely. This kit seems to contain everything that might be needed, with not a lot of little bits of this and that which cannot possibly be stored or used and will simply end up lost. The roller. The magnetic block. And that's it. No one needs a storage bag or a commemorative lapel pin - this is a tool that will go into a drawer and be used. No barriers to setup, no frustrations, just a quick sharpening and then put back away. That's is real convenience. Read more

This product is wicked cool. It seems like such a simple concept, yet I've never seen or used anything like this before. This is super easy to use. Choose an angle, 20 degrees for most knives, then use the rougher of the two grinding discs. Roll it against the knife a few times, flip over to the smooth grinding disc and roll back and forth a few times to hone the edge. Flip the knife around and repeat the steps again. It makes a grinding noise, so make sure not to sharpener your knives when someone is sleeping or around people sensitive to noise. It's not loud, it's just not a super pleasant sound. I do wish it came with more grinding discs to get even more sharpness out of it. I have 2 chef knives that the disc has troubles sharpening near the handle because it's as tall as the rolling disc. So a slightly bigger disc would be helpful for those larger knives that need sharpened. I've also had small knives pop off the magnet while sharpening, and this may be entirely my fault because I was probably trying to use too much pressure from the disc against the knife. Still trying to figure out how much pressure it really takes. Read more
This sharpener is an interesting concept and works pretty well. The instructions that come with it are lacking, so I did need to watch a video to be certain to use it properly. The base is set up to allow 2 different angles for sharpening. There is also a smoothing/finishing disk. I do like the way that this works and the level to which it sharpened the blades for me. It was also a bit safer than some of the other methods out there, especially once you get the hang of how to use this properly. Read more
What a very easy to use sharpener and works well enough that most anybody can use and get decent enough results to get a good sharp blade in the kitchen. Quality: This sharpener is heavy and feels premium and should last quite a while. If you do not know anything about sharpeners, let me tell you something about this sharpener. This will make your knife sharper, but if your current knife is not at a 15 or 20 degree angle, you will have to sharpen it for a longer time to get a new edge on it before you can use the ceramic side and then you should strop it. It would be nice if there was a leather pad attached to the top of the block to strop with. These angles are not perfect, but none really are, your 20 degree blade may be different from mine from the factory, but keeping your own sharpeners makes sure you have the same angle accuracy no matter what. Value for money: Your return on investment will pay for itself with this as long as you keep the same blades and keep sharpening them. Instructions and safety precautions are included in the box and ready to go. The speed I can get all of my kitchen blades sharpened in just a few minutes per blade and I am set for a while before needing to be sharpened again and it works well. Read more
