Customers find the knife sharpener works better than traditional ones and is particularly effective on large kitchen knives.

This device takes some getting used to. Works best with medium length knives. SS knives are a challenge. Good steel knives sharpen well. Read more
This is the best knife sharpener I ever used. Easy, sharpens fast Read more
This knife sharpener is easy to use and very effective. I had a kitchen knife that was dull but still had good metal, I tried sharpening it with a V-block style sharpener but it just wasn't getting it sharp. I got this rolling sharpener because it had two angles, 15 and 20 degrees. I used the 15 degree side on the wood block plus the coarse grit of the rolling drum, swiped it three times on each side then switched to the finer grit side and rolled it four times on each side. The difference was dramatic, the knife is way sharper than it been for some time. I think my V-block sharpener just has the wrong angle. I've sharpened it a few more times, just a couple on the coarse grit and many times on the finer grit with even better results. I've seen other drum type sharpeners like this design costing 4 or 5 times more, but I can't imagine what they have that this doesn't. Both the block and the drum are high quality build and material, the rolling drum design is compact and easy to use. It comes in an attractive box, nice if you are giving it as a gift. Very highly recommended for most kitchen knives. Read more
This is pretty much an idiot proof knife sharpening system for those whose kitchen knives are dull and not well maintained. The problem with this system is it doesn't offer enough flexibility for the user who is reasonably adept at putting an edge on a kitchen knife but would like to save time. The system offers a magnetic block with 15- and 20-degree angles at either end. The hand-held roller runs the length of the angled blade to which the knife attaches. Nice. To change sides, simply reverse the knife on the angled block. On one side of the roller is a 600-grit diamond wheel; on the other is a 1,000-grit polishing wheel. The primary bevel can be thinned at 15 degrees and the secondary bevel can be tipped at 20 degrees, giving the cuttingi edge a bit more strength. Here's the rub: The angles provided may improve the condition of German and other western kitchen knives but they are too wide to use on Japanese knives, which are typically finished to a narrower angle. Also, the 600 grit diamond wheel might be suitable for grinding a chipped blade edge but it is far too aggressive, in my view, in its removal of steel on knives that are reasonably well maintained. Two modifications would make this sharpener a better product, in my opinion. First, the set should be upgradable to include 8-12-degree magnetic block. Second, the upgrade should offer 600- and 1,000-grit diamond wheels; 1,000- and 3,000-grit ceramic wheels; 5,000- 8,000-grit ceramic wheels for those who want a superfine polished edge. I noticed the wheels can be unthreaded from the roller, which suggests an upgrade could easily include a variety of attachable discs. One roller, six cutting and polishing discs plus two angle blocks. The kit, as purchased, is good enough to use on my junk knives. But, it's too brutish to consider using it on my prized hand forged cutlery. I hope the manufacturer develops a pro version. I'd buy it. Read more
Gave as a gift and it was well received Read more
Seems to work just fine on large kitchen knives, but for a pocket knife such as a Swiss Army type the magnet moves the blade so low that the edge is not exposed. It does work on our smaller kitchen knives, but I was specifically looking for something that would also work on my pocket knives. Read more
