It is my opinion that Amazon sellers rush buyers to review products before they could have possibly used the item long enough to provide accurate review!!! Know that when I review I have actually used the product and that I provide a honest, unbiased review. My well water has dissolved iron and difficult to filter. I have had well water my whole life and have tried man different ways to filter the undsirable elements from it. There are many more types of water filter cartridges than there used to be so a while back I decided to attempt filtering water with cartridges again and these are the some of the best I have used. There are different type cartridges made from several types of media that filter different sizes of contaminates so it can be difficult to decide which is the correct one for your water. These filter cartridges are inexpensive and have a 1 mcron rating which means very small particles will be removed from water. It seems to me at this time that the micron rating is more important than what the filter is made from FOR MY WATER. I have not used the filers long enough to have a opinion on how long they last but the price is good enough so give them a try. Read more

Got these because of the good reviews and price, I have a G.E. smart water system and I've always used standard size charcoal filters from the big box. when they say 10" they mean 10"!! measure your old one! my old one measured 9 and 3/4, it stuck out the top of my canister by 1/4", as far as I know nobody sells "standard" 9 and 3/4 filters, I got it wet and was able to smash it down but I certainly won't be buying again.
