Outstanding Addition to the Kitchen!
I took a little while to post this review because the more I used this air fryer, the more I really enjoyed it and wanted to provide an in-depth review. On top of that, I know another well-known brand has a competing product, so I wanted to give you my thoughts on how this performed for something that is around half the price. My first impression was with the weight. Most of its weight comes from the sturdy glass bowl, which also provides a clear view of your food as it cooks. The rest of the unit though is exceptionally lightweight, adding to the claim of portability. The intuitive design makes it easy to set up and use, whether you are new to air fryers or a seasoned home cook. When it arrived, I noted that it was well packaged and secure, so everything arrived undamaged and ready to use. Upon receiving it, I would recommend two things: wash the components right away and perform a quick "burn-off" to rid the appliance of that new appliance odor. Washing the parts and running an initial cycle before the first use is necessary. What I call a "burn-off" is where I just ran the machine a few times for 10-15 minutes with good ventilation, and most of the odor goes away. That odor is not something unique to this product, and I have found it to be common with new appliances. Operation is simple, and cleanup is a breeze. The pot, basket, and tongs are dishwasher safe, which is a huge plus for those with a dishwasher at home. Even without one, washing these parts by hand is quick and easy. The small tongs included are a nice addition, making it easier to manage the food. The glass bowl is a favorite of mine because you can keep an eye on your meal to avoid overcooking. Food comes out evenly cooked, especially when using the oven basket for a single layer. I heard about issues with uneven browning from the other brand, so I did some testing with slices of bread (photos included). There was only minor uneven browning when using the "Recrisp" function, but for most foods, the heat distribution is reliable. Also of note, the "Recrisp" function also slightly browned the other side of the bread where as the other settings did not. A few things could be improved. First, the lid on mine did not fit securely to the glass bowl which is one of the appeals to this model. Second, the instruction manual covers basic operation but could be clearer with cooking times and function recommendations. It helps to give you a starting point to experiment with the settings to find what works best for your meals. There are four preset functions: Air Fry, Roast, Recrisp, and Keep Warm, each with a set temperature, so there is no need to set one manually. I did not see this information right away, but on the Rosewill website, I found Air Fry and Recrisp run at 410°F, Roast at 392°F, and Keep Warm at 212°F. You might be able to use this with your package cooking instructions to determine what times you may need. I used a variety of frozen foods such as chicken nuggets, eggplant fries, French fries, breaded shrimp, and then to test the recrisp function I reheated a breakfast burrito. In all cases, the results were surprisingly good and consistent. The air fryer beeps halfway through cooking to remind you to flip the food, and gives a final series of beeps when the food is ready after running the fan for a short period after it stops cooking (about 20-30 seconds as noted in the manual). So, who would this be good for? In short, a lot of folks who come home at the end of the day and have to figure out dinner for themselves as well as others. The simple functions, quick setup, and easy cleaning make it a practical choice for anyone who wants to prepare meals quickly and efficiently. This would also be useful for parents who would love how easy it is to add a few things to the bowl, walk away to get something else done, and then have food ready in no time. Overall, the Rosewill 4-in-1 Portable Glass Air Fryer is worth consideration. It offers clear cooking visibility, reliable results, and user-friendly features that make it well suited for busy people and home cooks alike with a solid value for the money.
