I bought this for my fiance for Christmas. He bought a really nice...expensive....brand name helmet for snowmobiling and was disappointed when his head froze on top because of the venting letting in the cold air. His neck also got hit by cold air and got wind burn. I was a little leery about buying this because its actually way cheaper than others I looked at, but I decided to go for it because if the reviews. I'm glad I did..he loves it! We live in WI where winters are harsh. So far...he said he feels no wind on his head...he says its super warm and it totally covers his neck...and then some where the cold was coming in. The material is really nice...not super thin & breathable. Came with an extra piece for the face mask part. Is sewn really well. Very happy with this purchase....especially for the price! WOW!!!! Awesome, best balaclava purchase to date.......even better than my Nordic Blaze!!!! Perfect fit, nice and snug without being too tight, and blocks the cold, icy air and I just luv the nifty zipper in the rear. Keep in my mind this item is primarily for really cold days.....32deg and below......and must be removed immediately upon entering a warm place otherwise you'll roast in short order!!!! The custom filter serves a dual purpose.......blocks dust as well keeps the front of your face warm and it also warms the air you breathe before it enters your lungs.......this alone is worth the price of admission. It's impossible to breathe deeply when inhaling ice cold air!!!! I have only two minor gripes with this balaclava.......add some snaps so that the filter doesn't shift and move when putting on and taking off the balaclava, extend the front portion into a chest protector. I wear a medium sized helmet and this balaclava fits snug enough, It has some wiggle room but not enough to slide all around. I do have to hold the front in place when putting my helmet on and be careful the top doesn't come down over my eyes, but once its all on it stays firmly in place. It fits alittle loose around the bridge of the nose, even with the insert with its little soft metal bar that lets you form the nose outline to your face. Its very warm and has kept my ears and neck warm in 30 degree weather while riding at 80+mph down the interstate. I should of went for the one without the zipper if only for the fact that the zipper is tough to do with gloves on or one handed. And it cant really be removed without undoing the zipper [Duh]. The only real con i can think of is that although its insulated enough to keep my face and neck warm, it is still thin enough to let in an alarming amount of wind noise. Without the Balaclava i can hear my music in my helm just fine with minor wind noise but with it on all i can hear is wind noise. Unsure how or why but it transfers a lot of wind noise directly into the helmet. It does its job, If you use earbuds in your helmet and not a com system it should be just about perfect. Read more

It is warm but the zipper broke when I used it for the first time. Back in August I was contacted by the manufacturer to let me know that they fixed the zipper issue with the Balaclava and wanted to send me a replacement. I accepted, and was pleased to say that it worked! The Balaclava is warm, like really warm. I use it when I ride my bike in the winter back and forth to work. It hasn't been that cold this year yet, but I have ridden with it on for 40 miles in 30° F/-1° C weather. I was really comfortable I sweat in it, but I didn't even notice it until I took it off. It held in the heat even in the cold wind. It didn't give the clammy feeling than some other Balaclavas or thermal hats do when they get cold. The face mask is breathable and adjustable I was able to pull it down to have a drink. I definitely recommend this product. I works well, fits great, and the customer service is pretty good. This comes in just one size but seems well made, so it was a good snug fit fit me without being tight. I was concerned that a one-size-fits-all might be too loose for me because I’m skinny, but it is made of stretchy material and is on the smaller side of average, so it is likely to fit most people well. Breathing with it on is easier than breathing with a COVID mask on. Not sure how waterproof the outer layer would be. It feels more like water resistant as opposed to being able to withstand a downpour. What I realized I would’ve liked is a balaclava that makes it easy to neatly fold and tuck the head cover but still allows the ears to be protected. I don’t like the way the fleece electrifies and flattens my hair in a weird shape, so I wouldn’t want to use the bead cover most of the time unless it is so cold that I’m losing a lot of heat through the head, but I would still like ear protection even in low 50s. This balaclava fits well when the head cover is pulled over but does not provide a stable cover for the ears otherwise as it is loss and wobbly. Read more

It's thin, but don't let that fool you!! It feels light and moves easy when you move. It's super comfortable even though it "hugs" your head. I work on interstates, at night, sometimes in below freezing temperatures... this thing is still doing exactly what it should do. Just received my hood/mask... it feels nice and warm and likely will do a good job with thermalization for fall/winter rides on my bike, etc. Feels well made and not cheap. I only gave 3 out of 5 stars for the fit & cut. It fits a bit bit awkwardly, loose and not cut well, while a bit bulky. It kind of reminds me of buying a "one size fits all" halloween mask at a party shop. I would make this purchase again, however... under a bike helmet im sure it will be fine, but if it were doe skiing or where aesthetics were a factor, i may be less pleased. Hope this review helps...
