Nice trashcan

Comfortable MamaApril 8, 2025

Nice solid trashcan. Huge holds a lot! Wish it had a soft close, but we’ve adjusted well to it and it doesn’t bother me as much anymore. Looks really nice and its easy to wipe clean. Read more

Expensive, but money very well spent

Tom BJuly 28, 2020

We got the 7 gallon one, fire engine red, for about half price via Amazon warehouse. I like it so much I would pay full price now without any hesitation. This is heavy gauge steel with a beautiful and very durable enamel finish. It looks great, it's built like a tank. The pedal assembly is well engineered and easy to use. The lid is heavy which is really nice because it rests on a rubber gasket and seals off odors really well. The cat can't get in, bugs can't get in. It seems insane to spend this much for a trash can, but this thing is going to probably last 20 years and give us beauty and functionality 20 or 30 times a day. Considering what people pay for a nice looking kitchen, appliances and tools, this is not too much money. Plus you are supporting one of the last manufacturers making household goods in the USA. It's a good cause. Read more

Not worth the money

AniJanuary 21, 2026

Wanted to love it. Purchased open box, returned immediately. No soft close, it's loud when it slams shut. Didn't appear to completely seal around the lid to keep odor in. There were two openings on either side of the hinge in the back. Wish I took pictures. Not worth the money if you're just purchasing for the look. One of the side arm mechanisms arrived a bit bent—but I was able to bend it back to match the other side. It didn't feel super high quality. I really, really wanted to love it. The industrial look, the bright red, the squared functionality look of it all—damnit. I really wanted it to be worth the money. I just wasn't. Read more

It is the right size

Wicked FelinaMarch 25, 2013

This is a nice, clean-looking kitchen trash can. It does say it's 12" x 16" in the listing title, which is incorrect, but the size is 12 gallons, which is standard for a kitchen trash can; tall kitchen garbage bags made by Glad and Hefty hold 13 gallons and are the correct fit for this can. I am glad I ordered the one with the plastic liner, which also has the retainer bands. I tried putting a bag over the retainer bands, but some of the bag showed when the lid was closed, and it was just kind of awkward. Maybe I didn't do it correctly. For me, it works perfectly to ignore the retainers and simply fit the drawstring top of the trash bag around the plastic liner, and nothing shows. I appreciate that the hinge opens the top in a way that makes it possible to put the back of the can right up against the wall without the lid hitting the wall when you open it. I like it, and I would buy it again -- but I probably won't ever have to. Read more

★★★☆☆

Feels like it was built on a Friday afternoon.

Hans JohnsonJanuary 23, 2020

The overall materials used to build the trash can are fine, it just feels like their quality control on these is a little sloppy. Reading existing reviews it is clear that a lot of people love these cans, so I think that I may have gotten a "lemon" so to speak. I bought the white 24 gallon with plastic liner version. The lid was welded on crooked to the extent that it did not close fully, because the metal of the lid would hit the rubber lip on the top of the can. I removed the rubber lip to fix this, but the foam gasket on the lid then only sealed on one side of the can, because the lid was attached so crookedly. This can will be used outside, so it's not a dealbreaker, but for the price, this shouldn't be an issue. The can looks like it was dropped at the factory, because the front bar that the step is attached to was bent in toward the can about an inch out of parallel with the can body. I was able to fix this with a block of wood and a crow bar. The step is also missing the grip tape that is pictured in the Amazon listing. The base of the can has 4 metal plugs in it plugging holes in the cans base. 1 was securely attached, 1 was halfway attached, the other two were just rattling around in the bottom loose. Not a big deal, but again, not a sign that it was assembled with care. I had to use some needle-nose pliers to straighten out the tabs on the metal plugs so they would seat well into the holes they are meant to cover. It seems like whoever assembled it pushed them in carelessly and bent the tabs, but didn't care enough to fix it. There are some chrome/nickel push on rod caps that hold all the linkages together attaching the step to the lid opening mechanism. These rod caps were all crooked as well. A good wack with a rubber mallet fully seated them and fixed the crooked appearance. Having said all that, it looks nice, and works fine (after some fixing), but for the price I was expecting a little more quality control. You may have a different experience, as it seems that many reviewers are not seeing the same issues that I have. Read more
