I've had a lot of these garbage cans over the years and they all seem to have one problem - it's hard to get the full garbage bags out. The cans are sealed so that there is suction preventing you from getting the bag out. Not this one, it works great. The last trash can I had was an automatic opener and it worked ok, but eventually fell apart. I wanted something simple and there were several negative reviews about this one. They seemed to mostly be related to the lock feature, which seemed odd to me. The can looked good and the price was right, so I got one. It does have a couple of quirks, and the lock feature seems odd, but I really don't use the lock feature so it doesn't matter to me. I can open the whole lid, and it stays put while I take out the garbage bag (very easily I might add), and then stays open while I put in the replacement. I don't use the lock feature and don't know what it is really for, so if that's keeping you from getting this then just go ahead and get it. It is a bit difficult to put in the garbage bags as they have to stretch to fit over the can but I haven't torn one yet and it fits so well that you don't see parts of the bag hanging over the edge. One thing mentioned by several reviewers is that the lid doesn't always close. I found that as well, but then looked at the instructions and it said to push the lid down the first time. Once I did that, there was no problem with it closing, so I guess it does pay to actually read the directions. Overall, I'm as happy as I can be about a trash can. It's not annoying, and I can take out the bags easily and it looks ok in the kitchen. You can't really ask much more of a plastic trash can. Read more

I never thought I could love a garbage can so much. But this can has everything. The lid is absolutely silent, not a tap or a click, just push it open, drop in the waste and it closes without a sound! Easy to clean and keeps the smell in. Only complaint, is that the hold open feature is a joke, I would prefer if I could move the switch and it would catch the lid, instead of having to hold the lid open while fumbling with it. But the easy way, is to just lift the whole top up, as it locks at the top when replacing the bag... would have been cheaper to omit this switch and just place that idea on the sticker on the bottom of the lid. Looks stylish and seems resilient to damage. Read more

I bought two of these. One worked fine from the jump while the other had a problem similar to what others have described where the lid wouldn't close after being opened. It was a pretty straight forward fix and hasn't repeated itself since. The long metal control rod that runs from the bottom of the can to the lid, it needs to sit into a recessed slot on the underside of the lid. If it's not, the lid won't close. I just slowly closed the lid while pressing the top end of that rod into the slot. It took a lil finesse (try a screwdriver or butter knife), but once it found it's way in, the lid began to operate properly again and all was well. I'm guessing that the cause is when someone steps on the pedal too hard, sending the lid flopping upward with too much momentum, causing that control rod to come undone. I'm going to put a piece of tape over the gap in that recessed slot if it happens again. Could be a better design, but not a huge deal. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I passed on getting one of the more expensive trash bins because I was afraid of dents. So I bought this and ended up with something that has flaws which make it inconvenient to use and will probably be busted within 6 months. Tops. The lid is so shoddy. It’s poorly constructed, loose and clunky on one end and normal on the other. Because of this, the lid has gaps so it doesn’t quite close flat. You also have to click the outer part of the lid in order to get it to stay up so you can get a bag in or out. It’s just plastic snapping against itself. It’s so dumb. The worst is when you open it. The metal piece that pushes the lid up from the foot pedal comes out of the track and gets stuck under the lip of the lid so it stays up. It has. Loud click when you open it — that’s it getting stuck — and then a loud click when you push the lid to go back down. But you’re not supposed to have to push the lid back down. That’s the entire purpose of a foot pedal operated trash bin — so it is hands free with a properly fitting lid. I also put in a half full (Kirkland brand) 13 gallon bag of trash and I had to rearrange the trash just to get the bag to go in. It’s molded plastic inside and I think some of that is taking up space that could be just open for garbage. Which again, kind of the point of trash bins. It’s disappointing and I’m so fed up with dealing with crap trash bins but I also don’t feel like going through the hassle of returning this so idk I’ll keep it until it breaks. Which probably won’t be long. For $70 this is a horrible quality thing. Read more

Lid closure FIX. If you open the lid, you’ll see the metal bar that pushes the lid open. It will slide past the part it goes into if you lift the lid too high using the pedal. All you have to do is push the metal piece kinda hard into the opening and it will lock into place. All fixed. Read more

Great trash can! It’s sturdy, easy to use, and has a smooth lid operation that keeps odors contained. The design looks nice and fits well in the space—simple, practical, and reliable. Read more

This is a nice trashcan, light, and it hides the bag. Downsides are that it doesn’t have a removable liner, but the interior seems sealed. The lid is quiet but you do need to snap the lifting rod into it as it’s not installed all the way. The problem I have is that when I received the item it was only encased in plastic, and the lid had a large scratch and scuff (noticeable to the naked eye). Amazon only offered a 12 dollar partial refund. Read more
