RuggedGrade 360W Aries IV Series - LED Corn Bulb - 58 000 Lumens - 277-480V - Color Selectable

I got this to replace a Metal Halide outdoor bulb with same socket type (after rewiring socket directly to current bypassing Metal Halide ballast kit). I'm saving a lot of energy vs. the metal halide it replaced, and it's extremely bright. I also tried 24W and 36W sizes from this same company that also fit my light fixture dimensions (though larger bulb dimensions) that were brighter, but this 19W version was the perfect compromise of brightness, physical size, and price. All of them were very well constructed and instantly worked. Months later the bulb continues to perform (and save me electricity over original 70W bulb + very hot running metal halide ballast that was probably burning even more energy). I have recommended this to others with consistent results. I see now it's being marketed as 20W, and not 19W, so not sure if it changed slightly. One of the few bulbs on AMAZON that are UL approved so you aren't risking fire like on the cheap Chinese bulbs. Perfect for extra bright porch lights or garage lights. Available in 2700k (warm white), or 5000k (daylight). Available in a variety of wattage and lumens. I have purchased both colors and 27W and 36W variants. NOTE - Dimmable on the bulb setting knob only, the whole light assembly cannot be dimmed with a dimmer switch but has to be adjusted for brightness on the bulb dimmer knob on the end of the bulb. Put one of these inside a giant paper lantern to light up our big living room. It is very bright and barely warm to touch. The only way to improve upon this design would be to add two mounting points instead of one security lanyard point for flex wire scenarios like mine. Read more

I had forgotten what it was like to buy items like this and have them come really well packaged, with clear documentation, with the feel of quality construction. The note "appropriate for enclosed fixtures"--which is important for bulb life and maybe safety--was printed very clearly on the bulb. The instructions included circuit diagrams and useful technical details. The bulb itself was very solidly constructed and even came with a plastic cap protecting the end you screw into the socket. So our vintage look streetlamp now casts *plenty* of warm light. I'm looking for this brand first from now on. Read more

My only complaint about these bulbs is that there is a delay of about 1 second when flipping the switch before they light up. I replaced some similar, but poorly made bulbs in my garage. These bulbs are about twice the price of the cheap ones I had, but these are very well made and I suspect they will last a lot longer than the two years I got out of my other bulbs. As for their actual performance, it's fantastic. They throw light in all directions, turning your dim garage into a well lit space. I absolutely cannot tolerate light sources with a color temp above 3000k, and while these do seem to be maybe a bit cooler than 2700k-3000k they are rated at, it doesn't bother me. Read more

Accurate color temperature and lumen level; fairly quiet, though audible fan. Surprisingly high illumination level and color temperature of light. The fan is audible in a quiet (<50dB ambient) setting, so if you intend to use it in a quiet room for high illumination of reading or study, it may be a negative. Outdoors the fan sound is of little or no consequence. While it is flicker free to the naked eye, it may not be flicker free for illumination during high speed photography. This is not a stated purpose of the light so no rating markdown, even if true. All the same, I'll update update this review as soon as I can shoot some frames at 10,000 fps or faster.
