The very expensive lighter I bought from them stopped working ON THE FIRST DAY of use after being 2 weeks late in arriving. I asked for and EXCHANGE, not even a refund, and they REFUSED to exchange it I go through insisting I go through the manufacturer's warranty program, spending MORE money packing, insuring, and shipping the lighter to North Carolina. I've had my MaxiJet for just over a year now. I'd had no luck w/ other manufacturers and while some offer a Lifetime warranty it doesn't do me any good when I have to send it back every 3 months for a replacement. Yes I Only use "Premium" Butane, only Xikar fuel now to be exact, and yes, I always purge the lighter when it's empty. If you're unfamiliar with purging your butane flame you might want to look it up and start practicing this every time your lighter is empty. Anyway personally I think the ST Dupont Maxi Jet has the perfect flame for lighting cigars. Actually it's simply a great jet flame period. It's hot yet soft, excellent precision, a sliding lock that prevents it from lighting upside down & it feels great in the hand, easy to use, comfortable... No matter what the use the flame on these lighters is exceptional... It is hands down my favorite lighter & it definitely gets the most use. I'm sure that just like anything manufactured not all will work perfectly or last forever, that's just a simple fact of products these days from electronics & cars to lighters and everything in between. But personally the quality from my ST Dupont is top notch & aside from the other review here @ Amazon I have never heard a complaint from other owners. Great lighter, awesome flame. This lighter was functional for about a month or so before it malfunctioned. Fed a diet of ONLY X-tend fluid and it still broke down. I have never seen a butane lighter last for more than a few months to a year; even a Dunhill owned by my father. I was assured by my cigar smokin' buddy and the cigar shop owner that this "French model" was different. I knew better from previous experience.The Lesson is now embedded in my brain.
