I've bought several Safavieh rugs and none disappoint, especially this one. This rug has a thick pile that is soft underfoot. There is no chemical smell and it laid flat shortly after unrolling. I vacuumed it well after laying down based on some other reviews and have not had any issues with shedding. It has a beautiful random pattern and is a lovely addition to my redecorated den room. Tons of research, as I knew nothing about rugs, made me understand that if you want a rug that lays flat right away, wont have creases from the start, and wont slip or move around, you need to get a heavy rug. HEAVY is the name of the game. This one is listed as 86 lbs. (the 9x12 I got) more than twice as most in the same price category; and it laid flat form the moment it was placed on the floor, does not move around or slips, and has zero creases or wrinkles also from minute 1 on the floor, even though it came folded, (not rolled up). Love the look, the beige and off-white colors were exactly what I was looking for. It is pretty thick and comfortable on the feet; it does not need an under mat or under grip for thickness or to keep it in place. It didn't have any noticeable smell as other reviews claim, guess I got lucky there. If I can give one advise to any confused rug shopper is to get a heavy rug to avoid most of the common issues rugs have. This rug is 5 stars for me. Read more

So many complaints about shedding! This is a wool rug and yes, if you vacuum with the beater brush it's going to shed a lot. Wool is a natural fiber and more fragile than polypropylene but I'd much rather have wool fibers floating around than microplastics. I only use the beater once a month. On mine there are also small variations of the beige color in the background of the rug where the weaver has used slightly different colored wool. That could drive some people crazy but I think it adds to the rustic, handmade look of the rug. It's thick and comfy under bare feet and I love the way it looks under my upholstered bed. I'd give it 5 stars except it was short by 4 inches on one side. Even handmade products can be measured before tying them off so so I can't see a good reason for it. Read more

Positive: this rug is thick and pretty (in my opinion) Negative: IT SHEDS LIKE CRAZY. If you sit down, walk on, or put your hand on this rug, you will have wool fibers all over. And they don’t come off easily - you have to furiously rub/pat them off your pants or wash your feet/hands. And if this is placed on a tile/wood floor, you will see fibers all over. If you have dark floors, you should consider this. I have a 10 month old baby and after months of trying to shield her away from this rug (which is near impossible as it’s in the family room and she’s crawling now), I have to get rid of it. I can see the rug fibers stuck to her palms and in her hair, which I’m not ok with. This thing is going out the door and being replaced with a high quality rug. Read more

I bought a 9x12 for the living room. We followed directions, unpackaged it (no odor!) rolled it and left it rolled for a few days to let the creases smooth out. It worked perfectly, and after we rolled it out and set it up in the living room we loved it so much we bought another for the dining room. The rug is thick and has a soft cotton backing. As you can see in my pics the neutral beige works great as a nice, stylish foundation for the rooms. It’s only been a few weeks but so far no shedding. Really glad this purchase worked out!!
