Honestly, I loved this better than the more recent SR entries. At some point it felt like they went from "GTA but unhinged" to just trying to be as wacky and absurd as possible, which, while fun, got tiring for me personally. I was worried I wouldn't like having a new cast, but honestly I love these characters more than the original crew: after the first cutscene with them I was already set to consider them family, and it only improved from there. It's still SR, but closer to SR2: still irreverent and often absurd fun, but more serious and down-to-earth than SR3 or especially SR4. Coincidentally, SR2 is my favorite of the originals as far as story goes. The game doesn't hold your hand too hard and lets you get right into things pretty quickly, which is really nice. My only complaint is the main story is a little short and easy to plow through quickly (and I want even more interactions with my crew!), but that's easy to manage just by doing more side missions and generally tooling around between big story beats. The setting is gorgeous and easy to get lost in and just explore, and I've found myself purposely traveling on foot just to take things in more than once--and I don't even especially like deserts, at that. Gameplay is pretty much what I expect from a SR title. Can't say it's anything new and innovative, but I didn't feel like it needed to be anyway. All in all, the reboot feels like SR dialing itself back down and growing up a little bit without losing its roots, all with a great new crew to start over with. I'd love it if they continued with a sequel. (Oh, and couch coop would be nice, but I know that's a bit of a pipedream.) Read more

As a fan of this series since Saints Row 1 I can unequivocally say this game lives up to the legacy. This is one of those dogpile games that the usual critic circles have decided it's okay to poop on. There is absolutely Zero reason for this. If you liked Saints Row 2 or 3 you will like this. It's also getting hate from the Youtube angry white guy industry... also no reason for that. Pros: Some of the funniest @&*%$! I've seen in a game in years. More of the same in terms of being... another Saints Row game. New takedown mechanic is lots of fun. Cons: It's buggy... too buggy but not enough to ruin my fun. They took out Human Shield. I imagine this was a concession to Japan. I also feel it's been VERY slightly sanitized... Think Fallout 4. It's still a pretty Raunchy game where you can run around in multiple gimp suits. Bottom line. I'd give this 4 stars but gave 5 to counter the... individuals... who rate it too low. Read more

The game is fun enough. Critics seemed a bit harsh. The gang is more interesting than Saints Row 3 or 4, whatever the last one was. It's not as over the top but it's not as serious and kinda boring as GTA 4 was (5 was better thanks to Trevor, but Michael was so boring. Franklin was good but Michael brought him down in my opinion.). Also unlike Red Dead Redemption 2 you're not following around a dummy like Dutch which was the worst part of that game for me. Yeah, there are bugs and it can be frustrating. But it's not game breaking. One bug I had to restart the game cause of a weird camera issue with getting into helicopters. Sometimes something won't spawn that should which is also frustrating. The game is good enough if you want a not serious open sandbox to mess around with. Some side quests are more fun than others. If you play around long enough you'll probably find something that is fun. It's also not as long and repetitive as Assassins Creed Valhalla with the combination of a Dutch like leader of your group leading you down an obviously dumb path you have no agency in doing anything about. This game is the opposite, all of your agency is your own and to make your life and your friends lives better. Maybe the main character is a bit blood thirsty but at least you're not going "Nooo...why are you in charge I don't want to do this!" for 80 hours. Read more

Saints Row seems to be the center of a lot of attention. It is indeed pretty buggy, but beyond that people are running away with the issues the game does have because the series changed it's tone a bit. I personally think the game is a blast! Just an open world sandbox where mayham ensues, where there's a ton of content and customization around every corner. They dont really make a whole lot of games like this anymore, where you can just mess around and have a blast. I do think the developers care about their product, just like so many devs before them they were forced to rush and release the product as is. If you think a developer wants to release a game with it's fair share of bugs, I would think again. That being said I haven't run into anything game breaking, and I'm sure the issues will get patched out. If you're like me and you aren't constantly thinking how the world is changing, and allegedly betraying you, I think you'll really have a good time with this one. Read more

Should have listened to the review on YouTube. Game play is ok. Dialogue is bad and cheesy. Character and companions are not that interesting and can sometimes be annoying. Would recommend that you play the 3rd or 4th one youβll probably have more fun with those. Ps: didnβt even get half way through this game. Read more

I would rate this no stars if I were able to. This has to be the worst game Iβve played regardless of the console. Please, do not waste your money. There is a reason this is inexpensive. This game premiere was rushed, graphics are delayed and cheap looking, missions are garbage with zero intellectual stimuli or fun and the free world ranging is limited. This was a disappointment Read more
