XXL stops at about 45" waist. This particular product NOT seen in 3XL size. If you are around a 46", they will feel snug, and IMO TOO snug at waistband. Their size ranges are NOT for American XXL sizes Read more
Earlier this year the New York Times included a comparison of men's boxer briefs. I purchased their top two recommendations. SAXX received the Times's highest recommendation, after a few weeks of testing. I was surprised by the design when I received them. I was expecting a well contoured boxer brief, and the blow up image on the website did not effectively show how the underwear is constructed. Rather than being generously contoured, these underwear are looser in the groin area than other boxer briefs. The "ball park" is formed by two light mesh guard rails inside the briefs. Upon first wearing the SAXX underwear, it was odd to feel those barriers gently riding all the way up alongside each thigh. But it was a light touch and the looseness in front was comfortable. The mesh barriers are hemmed with a fuzzy thread that keeps the hem from irritating - at first. Rather than return the underwear right off, because they felt odd, I chose to carry the comparison through. I cannot recommend the SAXX underwear for my sports - cycling and rock climbing - because of the extra material along the groin. A poorly designed chamois can break the skin, so you keep hems out of the groin. And climbing harnesses are incompatible with extra material on the groin. I imagine the SAXX might be more appropriate for golf or basketball, if you want to limit the secondary motion. Ultimately, after a few months, I am putting all three pair of SAXX into the garbage. Two pair cause irritation in the same place, along the ball park hem. It seems the fuzziness of the hem thread wears off, causing tiny pinches along the skin of the scrotum. The other boxer briefs suggested by the Times are slightly more snug, but that is something you ought to expect if you're going to wear boxer briefs. Read more
That nifty droptemp loop label you see at the back is in a rough fabric. The crimp at the top is actually sharp. Totally unwearable, even for someone who isn't normally bothered by labels. And I'm not willing to sit down and carefully remove stitching so expensive underwear can be worn. Read more
