TL'DR - Weight readings differ by about +/- 1lbs - Most features are gated behind an app - App requires personal information (guest mode only gives you BMI) The product page shows all sorts of things like body fat, water, etc. All of these readings seem to be gated behind installing and using their app. For me I am not interested in some random third-party app that collects health information and sends it to some random web server. So I will not use this product with their app. Without using their app all the scale gives you is your weight. So for 80 dollars it is significantly overpriced. For the sake of the review I downloaded the app for a few min to look at it. The app itself needs you to create an account to use anything other than guest mode. Guest mode will only give you your weight (which it switched to kgs) and your BMI. Overall this is too questionable for me. Foreign random third-party app that requires you to download and app and create an account to use most of its features. On top of that I took my weight multiple times and found that it was getting a different reading each time. Additionally it takes 4 AAA batteries which we'll see how long they last but I know will eventually annoy me. Read more
This is a really nice scale. For a family member that has difficulty reading the monochrome screen on must, this is easy, bright, and large enough for them to read and it does the full gamut with water, fat, and bone density measurements. It may not be clinically accurate like you'd get in the Dr.'s office but for most home use, I think it's more than adequate. To get the most of it, you need to sync it with an app on your phone and like all of them, you need to register an account with the manufacturer which I don't love but that's kind of the norm. Having used a few of these, this app is at least pretty easy to navigate once set up and I like that it has some Apple watch functionality. Also once synced (at least on iphone) it syncs with the built-in health app to update that for tying into exercise routines and anything else you have set up there, which is nice. Overall, I'd say the build quality and functionality justify the higher price for this scale and for those not thrilled with the app, the full color screen displays far more information that most smart scales that rely almost entirely on their apps for providing details beyond just the weight so if privacy is a concern, it's got that going for it in that you don't actually *need* the app but to get full functionality, including the ability for it to track ongoing progress over time, you're going to need to use the app but that's kind of to be expected. To me, the best feature of this Lepulse Smart Scale is the large, vividly colorful, and bright display. The scale I've been using before getting this one is nice enough, but it had a plain monochrome LCD display that was much smaller than the Lepulse's, and was not backlit at all so it needed plenty of light to be able to read the weight at all. My second favorite attribute of the Lepulse is the fact that it keeps track of my weight and other health stats (via the free app), and lets me know if the stats have improved or declined since the last weighing. I didn't see anything in the product ad or the scale's user manual that specified how many weighings can be saved, but inasmuch as the metrics trends can be viewed in increments of "recent", "week", "month", and "year", I would guess that the max capacity (if any) is "a lot". And it's not just for one person, but multiple people can set up profiles on the same scale and use it. The scale knows WHO is using it at any given time based on the person's weight. If two or more people have close to the same weight (within 2Kg higher or lower), the scale cannot differentiate who the current user is unless they have the app open while weighing. Besides weight, the scale can measuere/calculate and keep track of several users' health metrics such as: BMI, body fat, muscle mass, bone mass, body age, and lots more (22 metrics in all). The "body age" metric was especially interesting to me, as the first time I used the scale with the app it assigned an age of 33 years to me. I mentioned it to my wife and she wondered how that could possibly be, since I am almost twice that age! What I didn't tell her until later is that I had not entered my birth date accurately in the app. Once I did that, a subsequent weighing gave me a body age of a bit higher than my actual age, so I guess I've got some work to do to improve my health! Since a lot of the metrics are dependent on age, height, etc. it's important to accurately input this data into the app for accurate results. The scale will immediately "wake up" and start weighing after someone stands on it. However, if the scale has been moved since last time it was used, for optimal accuracy the manual recommends first stepping on it lightly to awaken it, then when the scale shows zero, to step on it again with the full weight. Once the weight reading stabilizes (it will flash a few times) you can step off (if all that's desired is a weight reading), or you can stay on the scale and it will take a pulse reading, then proceed to calculate the rest of the metrics one by one, culminating with a display that shows the weight and six other readings below it. Once the scale has been set up initially, it can be used either with or without the app. The next time that the scale is used with the app running on a device in proximity to the scale (Bluetooth, so within 30 feet or less from the scale) the data recorded without having the app running will automatically sync to the app and be available to view. A great thing about the app is that the data can be synced with a number of different popular health apps in use today, allowing a person to have ALL their health data available at a glance in their favorite health app. The scale looks VERY well made - solid, and with no creaking nor groaning like my old scale did sometimes when stepping on it. It runs on 4 AAA batteries, which are included with the scale. I originally wondered about the accuracy, especially since its weight readings are around a half-pound higher than my old scale. But then I remembered that every time I've been weighed at my doctor's office on their medical-grade scale it always came out higher than it does with my home scale, so the Lepulse is most probably the accurate one, and my old scale has been lying to me for all these years (no doubt to spare my feelings). I really like this scale. For those who might think that it sounds too complicated to use, I can tell you that it's not really any harder to use than a simpler, more basic scale - it's certainly simpler than the presence of all the features might imply. It's just a really nice, easy to read, simple to use yet powerful device that's a pleasure to use. Read more

I've been wary of smart scales for a while since they all require an app to sync data. I've had bad experiences in the past where a 'smart scale' ended up being a large paperweight after software support stopped. Happy that this scale from Lepulse can be used completely app-free if you want (at least for weight). I found it easy to use, high quality in terms of manufacturing/materials, and accuarte overall. I'm on the course to train for a half marathon and wanted to better log my progress as I prepare over the next months, so this will help me log my progress over time. Read more
