Highly recommend having one of these at home if you have anyone in the house prone to reoccurring ear infections! We are able to do at home checks and capture images to document any issues or progress (good or bad) with our children’s ears. This scope is very easy to use, it does require an app too. But we’ve had it for quite some time and use it fairly often and I’ve yet to need to charge it or order any additional pieces. It works great for both children and adult ears, giving high quality images and allowing for cleaning as needed. Read more

I am an otolaryngologist (ear nose and throat MD) and bought this for home use for my grandchildren at the recommendation of one of my patients. It gives a very good image of the ear canal and tympanic membrane (eardrum). It is easy to use. Magnification is good. It is a great tool …but you need to know what you are looking at! For that, you need medical knowledge. My patients are able to send me photos of their eardrums from their phones with this -that is very helpful! Read more

This worked well. I’m a healthcare professional. Had a recent double middle ear infection that was pretty bad. I wanted to keep an eye on my ear drums so I bought this-worried about some of the reviews. PROS: Easy set up. Follow directions - remember the device has its own “wifi” so you need to be savvy enough to be able to choose the devices wifi when prompted. Takes photos so you can follow your progress in healing if needed. CON: Not really a con for me but worth mentioning. You need to “add” the device each time you go to use it. Go through set up (takes 10 seconds) to get it to work. I think this was confusing to to some folks from what I read in the reviews and it’s the reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5. Read more

This product is AMAZING! I was planning on just buying one of the old school otoscopes. I’m SOOOO glad my husband found this instead. We have gotten sick every month since last June - we’ve had everything from Covid, to RSV, to some strange respiratory infection that almost killed my husband and I… our 3 kids under 5 got very very sick. I thought maybe they had ear infections from being sick so much so we ordered this. At first, I thought it was overkill but after getting it all set up (downloading the app) and using it! Holy! I LOVE IT. I pull it out now for each sickness. It’s as big of a medical staple in our home as humidifiers, Tympanic thermometers, and bandaids. It has multiple little pieces to attach on the end that can help remove earwax build-up SAFELY. We have used this for our kiddos and it has been a life changer for cleaning out their ears. I let the kids hold the phone and watch on the app (they LOVE it and will hold still for the cleaning). I thought the app would be annoying - nope! It’s simple, straightforward, and easy to use. No bugs or issues. And it lets you TAKE PICTURES!! This is sooo important - because you can TAKE this into the doctors and say “hey, I just got this picture of my 2 yr old’s ears. Is this an infection?” They can check it out - but they can also look at the picture you got and talk about what they see! It’s sooo helpful. We were able to catch multiple ear infections in my 2 yr old (who showed NONE of the signs - no ear pulling, no avoidance of food, etc.). He was just sick. I honestly can’t think of any cons. It’s been a great help. Simple to use. Holds its charge on the battery. My kids love it. I love it. Just buy it. You seriously won’t regret it. Read more

Easy to use, I love being able to look in my ears and seeing what is happening. I have a lot of ear troubles, and this saves me a lot of money by being able to take a picture and send it into my doctor. Read more

As a hearing care specialist I’ve used a $4,000 video otoscope in my practice for the past 30 years. I am shocked and amazed at the resolution and quality of the imaging with this device, and I’m even more shocked by the low cost! I ordered a similar device several years ago but returned it because of the poor image quality and overall quality. This one however is a keeper! I was able to clean the wax from my right ears just as well as I’ve ever been able with the big machine in my office. I would caution anyone that it could be dangerous to perform this task unless experienced in doing so. I would recommend extreme caution so as to not damage skin tissue in the ear canal or more importantly not to puncture the eardrum. If your ear is occluded such that you cannot clearly see the eardrum, you should seek professional attention. But for anyone with children, especially with recurring ear infections this instrument could be invaluable if you go slow and become familiar with the appearance of a normal ear canal and eardrum. Then you may be able to confirm the need to take the child to the physician’s office. I am truly impressed with the progress in technology to provide this device, but I do feel some study and practice is essential for its use to avoid potentially serious injury. A healthy amount of fear and hesitation is called for until you become experienced and proficient with the use of the otoscope, particularly with the use of the cleaning tools. By using the cone shaped specula, the viewing of the ear should be relatively safe so long as the skin tissue of the ear canal is not gouged. A gentle pull in an upward fashion of the outer ear will straighten the ear canal to make it safer. I would strongly recommend anyone contemplating the purchase of this device to seek at least some video training for its use, which in my opinion should be included with its purchase. Perhaps such training is available on YouTube. As to my review of the product itself, the imaging is just as good as very expensive professional equipment, but with a much smaller viewing screen. The Bluetooth pairing was seamless and works with my iPhone seamlessly. I have nothing negative to say about the device except for the lack of training materials which I deem extremely important prior to its use. 5 stars for the product itself less 2 full stars for the inherent risk of injury for lack of adequate, accompanying training materials.
