I’ve used Kontrol Freeks for years — solid product. But after switching to Scuf Universal Thumbsticks, I’m not going back. Why I Prefer Them • Grip: Feels far superior, especially on the Tactic version. • Durability: These things feel built to last. • Options: Tactic = same style as Reflex, Envision, Instinct sticks. Catalyst = great for concave use. Quick Install Guide (Easiest Method) 1. Base First – Slide the thumbstick base on, stretching at the slit/cut to fit over your controller stick. 2. Align – Look for the 9 black dots under the cap and line them up with the base slit. 3. Click – Push down until you hear an audible click. To Remove • Find where the 3 prongs on the base meet your stick, gently pry up between a prong and the cap. • Avoid pushing inward between the base and the prong too hard just pry up or you might pull the base off which instant an issue just then u gotta re apply both if u do accidently do this simply press but the prongs that have the cut or slice in between them towards each other to get the base off the cap easily. ✅ Final Verdict: For me, Scuf Universal Thumbsticks beat Control Freaks in grip, comfort, and durability. My hands get sweaty literally within seconds of freaking playing games. If you are the same do yourself a favor and pick up the Catalyst grips they totally negate the effect of sweat on the thumb sticks and give you a nice sense of control and grip. NO MORE SLIPPERY THUMB STICKS! Ive tried the control freaks grips and they are garbage if you have sweaty hands. Night and day difference. Read more

Pros 1. Feels good to use 2. Doesn't feel cheap 3. Didn't degrade overtime like my kontrolfreaks 4. When I dropped my xbox roller it didn't come off. Cons 1. Didn't really fit my ps5 roller 2. Can be hard to remove Read more

They fit well with the extended grip and add a lot of comfort that’s missing from the base sticks. Sucks that you have to pay to have more comfort and usability but they are a good product. Read more

I do a lot of long gaming sessions and the OEM joystick caps tend to wear down and loose grip over time. I often switch to metal ones but the one I previously purchased started making squeaking noises so I gave this one a try. The fitment is great and even after long and hard gaming sessions they don’t move or show any signs of looseness and they feel great. Since they fit over the OEM caps you can always reuse them when you eventually get stick drift. They obviously raise the joysticks up a little so if you’re not use to it, it may feel weird at first. But if you’re use to it like I am it’s not a big deal and I feel like you’ll get adjusted to it pretty quick. Read more

I bought the Catalyst style grips because they look smaller in diameter than other thumbstick grips, and I really don't like the huge oversized grips, like you see on every Kontrol Freek grip. On that front, they met expectations, they're only a smidge bigger in diameter than stock Xbox stick grips, which is small enoigh for me. Everything else was wrong. The concave in the middle of the stick grips is very shallow, much shallower than presented in the photos. That concave area is quite smooth, I can feel my thumb sliding across the surface, there's almost no resistance. The plastic shell of my controller has superior grip to this. The rounded edges where there's actual tread pattern is also smaller and differently shaped than presented in the photos. In the photos, the rounded edges with the tread, specifically, appear thicker, taller, and wider than what I recieved in the mail. The center smooth area is larger in diameter, shallower, and smooth. Not even the tread halts or slows the movement of my thumb there either, my thumb still slides right across it with very little resistance. These Catalyst grips are very disappointing, I would avoid them if you're looking for strong grip, but they are smaller in diameter than most other stick grips. Read more

Works great on the lovely Xbox Elite 2 controller. Although the OEM thumb sticks are amazing, I wanted to try this. The OEM Elite thumb sticks have the Catalyst style grips, which I do love but I tried out the Tactical style grips. The edge on the grips are maybe 6/10 in terms of grip but they look great. I prefer Catalyst style and should have gotten that since it’s what I’m used to. The inner/middle portion is also smooth and not grippy at all, almost slippery. It looks great and I adjusted. I mostly play COD Warzone so I put the grip on the OEM high rise for my aiming thumb stick. Read more

Unfortunately the long stick on the Elite Series 2 is concave. I like a concave stick on the left, but a domed stick for aiming. I tried these, Kontrol Freek, and Skull & Co. to fix that problem and these were my favorite of the bunch. They blend in with the stock look of the Elite Series 2 and have a nice texture around the outside, similar to the stock thumb sticks. So if you're looking for something more subtle than Kontrol Freek these are a good option. They are almost the exact same height when paired with the default thumb stick as the Elite Series 2's long stick. The only possible downside I can think of is the surface area is a bit smaller than the Kontrol Freeks I tried, so that's something to be aware of. Read more
