This is a great throwback to all the old school RPG's from years ago. This game is so nostalgic, I immediately fell in love with it. The play style, the art/graphics, the story, dialog, everything reminds me of the retro golden age, and my childhood. Seem's like it's been a very long time since a game made me this excited and happy. The inspirations for this game seem to come from everything like Zelda, to Breath of Fire, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy Tactics, you pretty much name it. But it's still its own game, with some nice "modern" updates and twists. All the old great nostalgia is there, but has enough new things to make it unique, enjoyable and fresh. I love the art style. So vibrant and just beautiful. You can do anything in this game, but I love the exploring and fishing, by far. It is so satisfying it's not even funny. Time fly's when I play this game, to the point I actually have to set an alarm for myself, so I don't play all day (especially on the weekends). The combat is great. It's fun, and so far, has not become boring or tedious like some games. Even in combat you have a lot of options; the timed hits are fun, combos are engaging, different damage types, there is always something to keep you interested. This is just one of those games that you have to try for yourself to really understand everything that is so great about it. If you are an "older gamer" like me, you will love and appreciate everything about this game. My nieces and nephews are infatuated with this game. I got a copy for each system, so we all get to play, and they all love it. They are so excited. Some love to explore, one loved to collect items and cook, another loves to fish. There is literally everything in this game to satisfy anyone. Enough fanboying, I really hope this helps anyone interested in this game. Read more

If you are a fan of old school RPG's, then you'll probably love this game. There are a lot of throwbacks to old school classics sprinkled throughout. The music is amazing and the story kept me going as well. Sprites and graphics are great. Read more

I'm only 5 hours in, and the story's still slowly unfolding, but I'm ready to give this game a 5-star rating. Jaw-droppingly beautiful, with a great soundtrack and pretty fun combat system (though can get a little repetitive quickly). Read more

This game is the best game in this style I have ever played. It dethroned Chrono Trigger for me, which is saying a LOT. Read more

If you are a fan of SNES JRPGS like Chrono Trigger, you'll love SoS. My only real gripe with this game was that the combat becomes a bit bland. It would have been nice if characters would have had more abilities/techs to use. But everything else was an absolute classic. Easily 9/10 and I really hope they make a sequel. Read more

This game was great till the lack luster ending that then goes on to tell you that you need to 100% all the collectibles just to see the actual ending and fight the villian the game was building up the entire time. I don't wanna spend multiple hours scouring areas I've already been looking for rainbow conches (the collectibles) just to get a ending. So disappointing. It's fine to hide stuff behind collecting but to hide an actual satisfying ending behind it is just a poor choice on the dev's end. You played our game but not enough go collect stuff..... my answer is no on to the next game. Read more
