Perfect And Inexpensive!
These two drives are in a two-bay Asustor AS5202T. It spent over two days rebuilding the RAID as I changed the installed (18 TB Exos) drives for these drives. I now have at least 10, maybe 14 Exos drives in 4 NAS' - three Asustors and one Synology. Every single one has been and is working perfectly. They're all 4 bay NAS' except this one. It made sense to put these - the biggest ones I have - in this NAS because after you provide any kind of redundancy, you end up mirroring the drives and halving the capacity. After that, the only slight problem I had was that the Asustor got an error when I tried to expand the RAID. Rebooting the NAS took care of that. The Asustor does everything, but it doesn't assume that you want to put the newer, bigger drives all in the Raid. So, when it's done rebuilding the RAID and scrubbing the drives, you have to actually click on an "Expand RAID" gadget. It did that in about two seconds after I rebooted it. It's an 18 TB RAID now. Therefore, these drives are perfectly compatible with with Asustor NAS'. The 18 TB drives that were in there went into a 4 bay Synology NAS. (SHR does much better with different-sized hard drives.) Those two drives and two 14 TB Exos drives are now in a 41.8 TB SHR1 RAID. Therefore, these drives are also completely compatible with Synology NAS'. They got here very quickly and they were extremely well packed, each in its own box. A very unique bubble wrap "pouch" made it so I didn't even have to cut anything! The "pouch", which enveloped the drive, stretched and bent enough to easily remove the hard drive and then sprang back into shape. After all this, I put two leftover 10 TB Exos hard drives into those pouches. It's the first time I've ever seen that and I like it a lot. I didn't check right away, but when I did, I think after I'd replaced one of the drives, these drives showed three hundred and some hours on them. They showed "Healthy" the entire time, beginning to end, each and every time I looked at them. A very, very good deal! I can't explain it! I do love the rich guys replacing these or whatever is happening, so I can get them for a very good price! Are they all getting 24 TB SSD's or what?!? This same company also had 22 TB Exos drives! I was going to order two of them, but when I tried, it failed, stating that they only had one left. Bummer. But other than that, I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!! Read more
