This is the most portable laptop stand available because, when folded flat, it has the approximate bulk and weight of one solid sheet of cardboard. While folded into shape, it sits comfortably on your actual lap as well as on a desktop. (Compare to the majority of "laptop stands" which are only designed to sit on a flat surface.) That's why one of these lives permanently inside my laptop bag. It's construction is basically a few thin sheets of metal, invisible to you, sandwiched between a top and bottom layer of textured flexible plastic, all molded together as a single foldable piece. I found the greatest wear-and-tear occurs from being jammed into my (sometimes overstuffed) bag, sliding in and out and against the laptop and anything else I packed in there. Over 3+ years, the first one I bought gradually saw more and more of the plastic peeling apart at the edges — no great surprise, given that I'm pretty hard on my gear while traveling. This is not a complaint; I see no way you could build something this thin and useful yet make it indestructible. I'm just warning you, this won't last forever. (Photo shows 4+ years of normal wear and tear, at my hands.) Alas, these have been out of stock for the past year. (Pandemic supply chain problems? In the interim, I had some success gluing my old one back together.) So, if you really like this, maybe buy an extra? It certainly won't take up much space! Purchased this nearly a decade ago in orange. Has held up really well except for the rubberized portion which has slowly peeled away but is still extremely functional. Needed a second for another laptop and ordered the black. Waited ages to find it listed again and glad I waited to repurchase! Same exact quality, will last you forever. Slim to pack away, easy to fold on either side for a slight elevation to keep laptop from overheating. Gets shipped in a minimalistic kraft envelope. Recommended! Read more
