We had been wanting to move away from more chemical laden detergents for awhile and we tried a number of different detergents with no luck. To be frank, most of them reinforced the perception of natural meaning weak. Seventh Generation broke that streak and we've now been using it for about 6 months and I don't think we'll be switching anytime soon. The detergent works well and it is truly concentrated. I'm one of those old school "You Need to use a Full Cap" type of washers and this has even changed that. The scent is VERY strong when you open the bottle so there's no real danger of using too much since your nose simply won't let that happen. But don't let the strong initial scent throw you - once it runs through your machine the clothes come out smelling just clean, not overly perfumed. It's also economical. When compared to other brands, this works out to be on par or even a little less than some. Once you break it down, if you use the amount you're meant to, it works out to about a quarter a load which makes it easy on our budget. For us, that's a win-win. Consider most all natural products have insane prices, that makes this a truly rare find. It's the perfect option for families who want to make a healthier, cleaner choice for their laundry but who also want to keep their budget in line. Read more

Fantastic product and always has been, scent and clean all terrific. There was nothing wrong with the original packaging, lid stayed clean, was compact. New container is bulkier but most importantly you can’t read any numbers on the lid “lines” now and it gets everywhere when you try and put the cap back on as there is no reverse funnel effect, not fully thought out it seems if I’m honest. This is a plea to the company to not mess with a solid product and make it worse, go back to the original design for the love. It WAS a 5 star all around product. Read more

I see a lot of bad reviews stating hatred of the new cap. I don’t have that issue , I save a cap from a dead bottle, and use it for future loads. I like to use Method’s caps because I feel as though the caps 1st gen have are too large for my loads. My mother would use a plastic measuring cup when I was growing up. Either way I actually like the new spout, it pours better and with less spillage in my opinion. I have more control with this bottle, but I have a hand that’s double jointed and I get frustrated with the other bottles shapes. This must mean this bottle is very annoying to people with normal bend-one-way fingers. I agree that the bottle should be changed so spillage hole will catch excess liquid, that is common sense. I love the scent so much, the non-concentrated kind had a lavender I am not into, very wild flower type. The concentrated kind smells like Bulgarian type of lavender that is amazing. I am thinking to try the one pour spout, it seems like more bang for your buck and claims to be the same scent. I use like 6 different soaps combined in my wash, but this is the main soap I use for scent and power. I also have to hand wash most of my clothes, so that makes a difference in type of soap I choose as well. Gets every stain out (along with my other choices) my girl works at a mechanic shop and this soap is completely necessary in my get-it-clean system. We also have two completely different scent needs for our bodies, I am woodsy she is sweet, and as women this is a great base scent for every kind of cologne, perfume, essential oil , lotion, or hair stuff we use. Enjoy! Read more

The smell of this laundry soap is undoubtedly fantastic. It leaves a slight cologne smell on your close after washing but the smell is really refreshing. Unfortunately, that is about all it does. Consumer Reports listed 7th Generation 4x's concentrated as number 30 in the High Efficiency category. It was not placed in the conventional category. However, 7th Generation Natural Super-concentrated powder listed number as number 7 in the High Efficiency category and was recommended by Consumer Reports. It was also the most expensive as being reported to be 26 cents per load (not to be confused with the per ounce measurement that Amazon gives you which may or may not very from load measurement.) If you are only interested in green products, then the 7th Generation Super-concentrated powder is the way to go. Seventh Generation Powder Laundry Concentrated, Free and Clear, 112-Ounce (Packaging May Vary) When I used this initially, I could tell that my clothes weren't getting as clean as they were previously. I have a small child who spills a lot and some of the clothes would come back with food still on them. The food would be something that was easily removed with soap and water. I also felt as if the clothes may have had an oily residue left on them. I normally wash my sheets once a week but I found that I need to wash more when I switched to this brand. I am committed to living as green as possible so I will try the powder. I really don't care for powder detergents but I would like my clothes cleaner. I am also curious about the orange lavender scent. I will update when I have used the powder detergent. Read more
