We love this microwave which is the same underlying model as Wolf's MEC24 but half the price. The convection works really well as a small oven for reheating various foods (recrisp those Doordash fries on high convection for a few minutes!) or for any frozen "kid food" like nuggets, pancake bites, etc. it will take a 12" round baking tray easily and even fits a quarter sheet pan just barely. Note that while the quarter sheet will rotate, it's acceptable to remove the revolving platform in convect mode and just use the racks. One other great thing about the Sharp version is that it has separate buttons for Preheat and Convection. Wolf used to, and then they modified their design to change one of those buttons to do their "smart cook" button. As far as we're concerned this was a huge regression because, like the dishwasher and the clothes washer, nobody ever uses those super advanced smart mode features. We DID use preheat quite a bit to warm and cook in one step (just throw the food in there while it's preheating, which is fine for most things). Can't do that with Wolf anymore, you have to come back and open the door, close it, and restart convection once it's heated. So the Sharp is great. The sleek stainless steel, ease of use and all the features offered how can you not like it! The functionality of convection/bake, microwave, auto functions it’s a game changer. I had an older Sharp Carousel for many years and decided to upgrade around 7pm. My delivery was here by 1 pm the next day and hand carried to my kitchen. Wow! As far as the Carousel itself, it doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist to figure out how to operate. Door alignment, no dents, and noise level all good. Durability seems to be solid, again I had a similar model for many years. Easy cleanup. Very seldom do I use my wall oven anymore (except for storage), unless I am cooking large amounts of food. The item "Sharp Carousel Convection Microwave Oven (SMC1585KS) was delivered within the time frame advertised. This was desired and important as this is a holiday weekend and our old unit had died the prior week. After unpacking and reviewing the instructions to insure there are no significant changes to operating the Microwave -Convection oven, it was plugged in. The clock was set and a cup of water was placed within the microwave on the carousel and the touch pad was keyed to heat the water for 15 seconds. Observation: First the light inside of the oven had turned on when the microwave was plugged in and it remains on all the time Second the carousel was rotating continuously Third the water did not heat, No change in the sequence of the keypad changed this outcome. Note: the top surface of the microwave cabinet grew very warm to the touch so it was unplugged. Tried to Call Sharp Customer Service only to learn that their support center operates on EST despite their user instructions that their hours were in CST so, missed any customer support by 10 minutes. This is our 3rd Sharp microwave / convection oven in 40+ years and it is the first one that looked poorly assembled (slight misalignments with the cover, control panel and door) and also does not function. So, I would like to give No rating for this product as it is likely just a bad item but Amazon requires a rating to go with a review. I can not rate it higher than a 1 star at this time . I may come back and write another review or edit this one if allowed. Sharp has made good appliances in the past. That not withstanding, Sharp customer service and apparently their quality has fallen off. a real shame. Read more

It gets too hot, but it seems to be working fine. my original convection microwave same brand didn’t get this hot and it was 1500 watts. It lasted from 1969 until 2025 . I hope this microwave lasts more than than 10 years. Read more

This is my 3rd Sharp convection microwave. They usually last about 7 years. So grateful they had the same one. We especially like the reheat function on it and use it all the time. My husband uses the bacon setting. I make awesome cakes in the convection oven using the racks and slow mix. The defrost cycle is very handy. I just love it. Read more

This Sharp Microwave has now replaced a near 30 year old IDENTICAL Sharp Microwave, that sadly had bit the dust! I was amazed, and ecstatic that Sharp still manufactures this model!! It is heavy duty! It is large! I have not used the convection ability yet, but I did on my old model, it works as you would expect a convection oven would. It certainly microwaves great. Better watch, it heats fast and HOT! So my guess is that this new microwave will get handed down....Since I don't think that I'll be around when this one goes "Kaput" in 30 years.... Read more
