I've used these for 6 years and just seen them on my list of purchased items. I'm not some sharpener expert. I just like a good edge on my knive and modern steels are to hard for natural stones. But "QUALITY" diamond stones are expensive. I took a chance on these hoping they would be handy for travel and good enough to maintain my knifes. They did not disappoint. I prefer D2 and M390 blades and use these to keep a working edge on my pocket knives. I actually took the plastic backs off, engraved the grit into the back of each plate and keep all 3 in one of the leather slip cases. They are wle up very little room in any bag and are easy to keep handy on the go. I have repaired and reprofiled some knifes and have used them for kitchen knives as well. I use the ken onion belt sharpener for most of my sharpening now. But I keep these with me whenever I'm traveling. They're perfect for that or if you want a chewo sharpening system and can learn to hold an angle while sharpening. Freehand sharpener is a good skill to maintain and these will sharpen anything. I've had this set for a few years and used them to sharpen other people's knives, as well as my own. They work great as long as you know what you're doing. The grit is diamonds, so you dont need to push very hard to get good cutting action. I have had some stone delamination, but its negligible. The handles can be a little uncomfortable, but I found that putting my thumb through the hole and pulling the plates against a closed fist is the best way to use these. They may not be the most durable diamond plates, but are definitely worth the money. Super portable, all three fit easily in a pocket Read more

I would give this product a 5 star but unfortunately it he only reason why I gave it a 4 star is mostly because it's a little loud when sharpening my knives, but it does leave a razor sharp edge so yes I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a portable knife sharpener Read more

Works great for sharpening. Even sharpening tweezers works well, you can do both sides at the same time or one side at a time. Good value. The diamond stone is very sturdy and any marks on it from materials or scratches from sharpening wipe off. The holder is a nice thin leather it fits the stone well the mirror and finger hold hole are a nice touch. Now when I am bored I can carry this and sharpen my pocket knives, kitchen knives, tweezers, scissors etc. I sharpened a pair of space grade tweezers in about 10 passes a side. Read more

Not everything I own can be done on a larger stone, or I'd need a huge stone to move across. The little ones make it a lot easier to just move the grinding surface over the blade rather than the blade over the surface. It works great for my hatchet, carving knife, and even curvier small knives. There's a small round pop out handle loop on the back that can give you more stability when using them. I never actually pop it out, just use it to nest my finger and it works fine that way. There's also a signaling mirror on the back. These guys also make my main sharpening stone. Their diamond stones have remarkable consistency for their price, allowing you to really get a fine edge. The only thing I don't like about it is that the plastic for that handle makes it too thick. This dramatically increases it's footprint, especially with the little leather sheaths they come with. I may try to remove them, but I think I'll need to stay aware of stacking them. They need something to protect the diamond surface, and protect against it from scratching other things. Read more

I have a dedicated sharpening setup for knives but wanted something a bit more flexible for gardening and other miscellaneous tools. These are great because they are thin and easy to hold which allow you sharpen a wide range of tools. The range of grits is good and they sharpen well. Seems like they will hold up well and are not expensive compared to some other diamond stones. Read more

They sharpen a blade fine, but they are annoying to hold. The whole idea of holding it on one if your fingers through the hole on the bottom sounds like a good idea, until you use it. You have to uncomfortably brace this thing with your fingers to sharpen a blade on the dang things. Don't and will move around too much. My hand was cramping hard just to keep the sharpening tool from flopping around. Read more
