I wanted to like this dress. It has a 1960s retro vibe, my favorite era of clothing! But the execution is just not there. First, as others have mentioned, the fabric is extremely thin. Like see-through thin. This means two things: the overall look of the dress is significantly cheapened by low quality fabric and the fit ends up looking clingy and unflattering due to thin material. This is meant to be a “body con” dress and seeing this description, I purposely sized up two sizes to ensure it wouldn’t be too clingy. I truly don’t think the dress would have fit in my normal size anyway. Unfortunately, the thin fabric means you still see every single imperfection and even the outline of underwear through the dress. I suppose if you wore it with a really good nude colored body shaper it might work, but I’m not a fan of buying clothes that require elaborate undergarments unless for a special occasion. The dress is short, which I didn’t mind since I wanted a vintage 60s look anyway, but it’s something to keep in mind. I also feel that it’s made for someone taller, or at least with a longer torso because I don’t feel like the pockets hit where they were supposed to on me, which made the dress less flattering. For reference, I’m 5’5”. So my takeaway is, if you want a truly “body con” style dress and have a very smooth silhouette naturally or are willing to wear shapewear, you could probably make this dress work. I’m about 5’6”, 120 lbs. and ordered the small, my usual size. Although I understand it’s bodycon, this is way too clingy. I have very few curves and it was too tight on me. I have no chest (double mastectomy) and it pulled in the front and back. If you are chesty at all, I recommend sizing up. The fabric is quite thin. If I wore this out maybe a black body shaper would work? But it’s Florida and I’m old, so I’m not going that route 😆. If you’re much taller than me, you’ll be taking a great risk bending over. I would for sure wear shorts under it. It did not lay nicely like many bodycon dresses do. I think that was due to the thinness of the fabric and that it was lower quality in general. The zipper wasn’t the greatest. The collar was tight and I have a pretty thin neck. Maybe if I had gotten a medium, I could pull it off. If you’re still interested, I would definitely size up and invest in some good under garments. Read more

The silhouette on this dress is lovely. The cut itself is as pictured, with a refined, slightly structured shape that makes it look like a polished piece for work or a semi-formal occasion. That said, the fabric is so thin it’s almost shocking. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s invisibly thin—I took a photo straight through the BLACK fabric where you can clearly see my walls and glass sliding door behind it. If you plan to wear this, you will absolutely need a slip underneath. And, for example, if you get it in black, you’ll need a black slip, because nude would still come across as inappropriate. Because it clings to every line and every bump, this is best for those who are either very slim or very confident. On the right body, it could be chic. On most, it will highlight flaws rather than skim over them. The overall design idea is good, but the material keeps it from living up to its potential. If you’re okay layering with a slip and don’t mind fussing with the cling, it can work. Otherwise, I’d look for something with a bit more substance. Read more
