Worked fairly well. Bags are relatively sturdy. Filled bags with clothes and used a vaccum to pull all air out. After a week, all bags remained with vaccum except the jumbo. The that one lost its seal (or has a slow leak) as it is reinflated. Overall, the bags seem durable and I will buy more. These bags work very well! They sealed my pillows perfectly and I'm very pleased. The only negative I experienced was that the zipper is completely useless. It slides but that's all. It doesn't seal at all or at least it didn't for me and I tried with each bag (I ordered 6 bags). I had to use my fingers repeatedly to get it sealed but once done, it flattened like a charm. I was really disappointed with these Hefty SHRINK-PAK vacuum seal bags. I had high expectations given the brand, but they fell short in several key areas. On the positive side, the jumbo size was perfect for my needs and easily fit larger items like excessive clothing, but the overall space saving performance was underwhelming since it only compressed the contents to about less than half their size instead of the 75% advertised. Packing was also frustrating because the bag wouldn’t stay open due to the thin material, making it difficult to load bulky items. While the ease of use was decent and sealing/vacuuming the air out was straightforward, the long-term performance is where these really failed. The bag actually held air for about three days, so initially it seemed fine, but when I went to store it, the material which feels extremely thin and weak tore very easily for no real reason. Once it tore, all the air escaped, completely defeating the purpose. For a brand like Hefty, I expected a much thicker and more durable product. Between the poor quality, risk of tearing, and eventual air loss, this is not something I would purchase again, and I would urge others to be cautious before spending money on the brand name on this poor design and subpar material. I had a double bed, 3 inch thick, memory foam mattress topper that I needed to store. Rather than buying a mattress sized bag when you are going to shrink it anyway, I thought I'd see if i could stuff it in one of these. I honestly didn't think it would work but it did! I folded it in in half, then rolled it sort of like a sleeping bag, then got a yoga strap around it to hold it together. I yanked hard on the bag to squeeze it in and kept thinking I was going to rip it but it held. I was able to slide the yoga strap out once I got it in and then vaccuum sealed it up. The only weird thing is that the plastic unit that you vaccuum is about an 1/8th of an inch too big for a standard vaccuum hose to fit over it, so you have to hold the vaccuum in place perfectly over the holes while you suction the air out. if they made it just a skosh smaller it would be so much easier. Hefty is a great name in many regards for plastic and storage items. Unfortunately, in the starter pack, I received an extra large bag and put a couple of things in it, and it does not keep it sealed. Unfortunately, in the starter pack, I received an extra large bag and put a couple of things in it, and it does not keep sealed. The sliding plastic seals for me, have not worked at all. I resealed it a number of times by hand and tried everything I could to make it better. After about two hours, it completely lost the seal and became just a bag. Two of the other ones out of four worked perfectly. To this day they’re keeping the seal and are excellent. I just wish they all work that well. I don’t know if there was a hole in the extra large one or the valve was defective causing it not to maintain any seal. I am in the process of moving, and really wanted them to work. I am reluctant to buy more, which I wanted to, because of my experience with the biggest one with only a few bedding items in it. Read more
