Has an unpleasant chemical smell

This review was written by my wife. This Shredded Sauerkraut was not good. It smells of chemicals. Maybe it's the sodium benzoate (preservative), or the sodium bisulfite (to promote color retention) that smell and taste so strange. Are those chemicals for my benefit or so the company can keep the jar on the shelf longer? The brand I usually buy has only cabbage and salt in it and is much more sour and salty. The left overs went into the trash. Never again. Read more
