Works very well to keep the sun off you when walking around doing survey work in the desert. Somewhat like having a cloud above you for shade. Does not double fold collapse, which is unfortunate for packability, but probably also means higher durability. I'm usually wearing a backpack, so if I need to pack it away for a few minutes I'll just collapse it, and stick it horizontally behind my back where the bottom straps of the backpack will catch it. Not the most comfortable long term, but for a light pack and a short duration, works fine for me. I chose this size as a compromise between coverage, wind resistance, and weight. Some days a larger one would absolutely be nicer... but it would become unmanageable at wind speeds where this is totally fine... So to each their own. Read more
