My breeder actually recommended this product to me. My dog rides in the back seat, which I have covered with a "dog blanket" that has slits for seat belts. The Slowton dog harness comes with a short seat belt attachment that fits my car seat belt receptacles and keeps my dog from leaving the back seat (just make sure it clicks when you insert it into your car's seat belt receptacle). The harness itself is great, too. It's made of sturdy material and is adjustable for size. Size small fit my puppy when he was 20 pounds, and remarkably still fits him now, two months and an extra 15 pounds later (he now weighs 35! Puppies grow fast). I bought the "mesh" version but still worried that the harness was a bit hot for him when the temperature was in the nineties, so I didn't use it for dog walking when it was super hot out (though I still used it in my air-conditioned car). But now that it's not above 80 degrees outside, I prefer to walk him with the harness, because most vets and dog books recommend harnesses for walking. It's preferable to attaching a leash to a dog's collar, which can subject its neck to too much pressure if it ever strains at the leash, or jumps/lunges. I plan to order a size medium Slowton harness soon, to have it on hand when my pup finally outgrows size small. Last thing, you can't beat the price on this harness, as it's good quality, does what it's supposed to do, plus comes with the seatbelt attachment. I would recommend it to everyone. However-- don't leave your dog unattended when wearing it. Once, I unavoidably left my pup in the car for 15 minutes, and he apparently struggled and managed to squeeze part way out of the harness (he hates being left alone). I then realized I'd had it on him too loose. Aim to just be able to squeeze two of your fingers under it-- the same as it's advised to do with a collar. Note-- this has never happened when walking him. Even though still he often pulls and jumps on walks, his harness has stayed securely on him. Just always make sure the buckles always "click" into place when you put it on your dog. (The buckles are made of a type of sturdy plastic that seems similar to the kind used in children's car seats and strollers, and they're very easy to operate.) Read more

Loved this, I bought it to take my dog with me on vacation...45 lb pittbull...the seat belt was the best..adjustable and locks in perfectly in your seat belt fastener. This kept her in her seat and not climbing all over the car...it also prevents them from sliding out of the seat if you make a quick stop or sharp turn. Read more

I have two takes on this product since I bought one for each of my Huskies. For my larger older husky (one in the pictures) this product was great! I measured her using the guidelines from the pictures and the medium fit perfectly. It was super easy to put over her head and click in the straps unlike other harnesses I have tried before. I liked the design and how it matched her original collar plus she didn't try to mess with it nor did it look like it bothered her. This harness gave us peace of mind when taking our dog camping. We weren't sure how exactly to clip on the leash but definitely held up from the excitement and tugging. This item held up and still looks new from river/creek swimming plus running & rolling in dirt/grass/twigs ect when camping. Now for my younger smaller husky (lighter colored bottom in picture😅) I unfortunately didn't get to have the same experiences. With him I figured to go up a size (medium) on the measurement since it was in between and I wanted him to grow into his harness. The smallest sizing seemed to fit perfect to me so I left it on him to get adjusted to the harness and not two hours later he loosened one of the straps and got to chewing on it! It was half chewed and half attached and we were heading out of town so I didnt want it to go to waste and used it. As soon as he heard "outside" and ran forward the harness snapped. Better it happened in my apartment than when camping I guess. Over all this product is just what I was looking for. Good quality and good pricing. Also the seat belt attachment was a great extra to have. Just keep in mind when sizing in case you have a young wild dog who isnt used to harnesses. Other than that I will continue using the one I have and possibly get a smaller size for my younger husky. Read more

2022:. I'm still using the best but not the straps that attach to the seat belts. I'm using the SlowTon straps that attach to the seat back headrests. They work perfectly for us. This vest fits my dog well and it's easy to put on and off. It shows no signs of wear and tear after 2 years of use. 2020: I am only using the vest. I don't use the seat belt attachment because my dog would still be able to cross the center console and get into my lap as I'm driving. I am using the SlowTon restraints that attached to the headrest that I purchased separately and I absolutely love those. This vest is perfect for my 12 pound dog. It's so easy to adjust to fit. Once fit properly, it's very easy to get on and off. The plastic buckles seem like they will last a long time. I've only used it for a month or so but we put it on and off about 3 or 4 times a week. I don't foresee any problems with this vest. However, these restraints will not protect your dog in an accident. They will just keep them from running away and if used properly will keep them from distracting you while driving. The SlowTon restraints that attach to the head restraint on the seat back are perfect for me and my pooch. I am planning on using this seat belt attachment gizmo in the back seat but I haven't used them yet. I'm going to try it out back there to see if if that works and if it does I might just leave one in the back. Read more
