I'll start off by saying that the volume of heat output from this heat gun is nowhere even close to the amount produced by plug-in heat guns. This portable power-tool style of heat gun achieves high heat output by limiting airflow output with a perforated metal cover over its air output nozzle. Just know that it's not going to "blow" a ton of hot air like a plug-in heat gun does. That being said, it does work. The plastic that the tool and battery are constructed from feels like the plastic used with other cordless power-tools, and doesn't feel cheap and flimsy. This heat gun is quite loud in use, making quite the "whine" sound when being used. The heat output is regulated to the airflow setting. If the airflow is changed from maximum down to minimum, the power to the heating element is lowered to maintain the set temp, which is something I was curious if it would do or not. And although the air volume output isn't nearly that of it's plug in counterpart, this heat gun is capable of heating the air that it does put out to very high temperatures. It shrinks heat-shrink and shrink-wrap without any problems at all. Just as an experiment I used the gun with the reducer nozzle on an old PCB in my workshop to see if it would melt the soldered SMD components on the board, which it did. It took a little bit, but it did liquify the solder, and I was able to remove components from the board with tweezers. Based on it being able to do that, it must be capable of outputting hot air in excess of around 700deg(f), so it can become quite hot. The only major downfall with this particular kit is that, by the time I had done the solder-melt test, the included 2.5Ah battery has been completely depleted. It didn't take long for the tool to drain the included battery, maybe 6-8min on high heat setting. The battery was quite warm itself as well after the test. Realistically this tool needs a much higher capacity battery to be effective for any usable length of time. Usually these products use the battery mount or clip from an existing brand of power tools so that another brand's tool batteries can be used. This heat gun does not fit milwaukee m18, or craftsman batteries, which I have tried. I'm not sure if the gun will work with any other brand of power tool battery, however looking at the shape of the clip, I suspect that it's likely compatible with 20v bauer (HFT) branded tool batteries. I will update this review once I have tried a bauer battery to see if it does indeed fit into the tool. Overall not a bad product, however, it needs a larger battery to have acceptable run times. The different nozzle sizes are what really make this a 5 star product in my book. Having that variety opens up a ton of different uses, and I’ve been able to get a lot more out of this heat gun because of it. I’ve used it for working on older gaming equipment, heat shrinking wires, and even removing old glue and stickers from cabinets. It heats up well and does the job consistently across all those different tasks. The cordless design is also a big advantage. Not being tied to an outlet makes it much easier to move around and work in different areas without hassle. It’s convenient, especially for quick jobs where you don’t want to drag out a full setup. And, the battery life seems to be quite high, all things considered. I've only had to charge it once so far since I've received it. This is a really versatile and practical tool. If you’re into DIY projects, repairs, or crafting, the included nozzles and cordless design make this a great addition to your toolkit. Excellent value for the price here! This is one of those tools you don’t know you need until you need it. Heat guns like this are a necessity for quick, spot-repair tasks like shrinking wire wraps, thawing frozen pipes, loosening stubborn bolts, or light crafting without needing a power outlet. My first test for this tool was the removal of a dealership decal from my car, but I have also seen one used to restore a thermal plastic car bumper to its original form. Being cordless this tool offers maximum portability and convenience…However, cordless usually also means limited battery life, lower maximum temperatures, and less consistent airflow compared to corded models, making them unsuitable for prolonged or heavy-duty tasks. I’ll address these factors individually: (1) Battery Life: This battery reached full charge in 90 minutes. The amount of runtime you will get depends on heat settings: At the lowest heat setting and airflow level 1 you can expect around 90 minutes per charge. At the high heat setting and airflow level 6 you will only get about 10 minutes per charge. According to the seller’s page, replacement batteries are available for purchase separately (@$25.99 for a 2-1/2 Ah battery) to extend your work time between charging sessions. (2) Lower Maximum Temperatures: Corded heat guns typically operate within a temperature range of 100°F to 1,200°F. This cordless model does not have a significant drop-off compared to the corded with the operating temperature range of 122°F and 1022°F…which is enough for me and most DIYers. This kit included the heat gun, a 2.5 Ah 20V battery, the charger, and 5 nozzles all housed in a custom-fit foam case, for component protection, easy transport, and storage. However, I feel like the seller cheaped-out by not providing a plastic/resin carrying case with the foam insert instead of using the cardboard box it was packaged in. I like that it’s cordless with a wide variety of temperature selections and 6 speed adjustable airflow control. It heats up and cools down quick and has built-in safety features. It even has an LED light to illuminate your work area. The biggest negative for me is the battery life…However, I don’t foresee any large/time consuming projects (like paint stripping), so I will hold off on ordering another battery. At $59.99, this one is at the higher range of several other comparable cordless heat guns. Deduct 1 Star for price, battery life and the cardboard carrying case. Read more
