All scales are not the same, on my body recomposition journey & this has helped me out tremendously!!!! Real numbers dont lie. Read more
I decided to pick up this Masmssm smart scale because I was hitting a frustrating plateau in my fitness - the number on my bathroom scale wasn't moving, but my clothes fit differently. I suspected I was trading fat for muscle, but I had no way to prove it. I specifically wanted a unit with the handheld bar because Withings smart scale can only really estimate your upper body composition and do not provide any in-depth information, whereas this one uses eight electrodes to send signals through your whole frame for a complete picture. When I first set it up, I was seriously surprised by the sheer volume of data it throws at you. The experience is quite different from a normal weigh-in - you pull the retractable handle up, place your feet on the sensors, and wait while it runs a dual-frequency scan. I really enjoyed the voice prompts, which guide you to hold your posture correctly, although the British lady announcing my status was a bit of a shock at 6 AM! The segmental analysis is the real winner here. Seeing that my right arm has slightly more muscle mass than my left was a level of detail I didn’t know I needed, but now I’m obsessed with balancing it out. The app visualizes these twenty-eight different metrics beautifully, tracking everything from visceral fat to water weight, and syncing it all to my Apple Health account seamlessly. However, the device is not without its quirks. The retractable cord for the handle feels a little like a flimsy tape measure, and I’m always careful not to let it snap back too hard. But my biggest gripe is the dependency on the phone - you essentially must have the app open and active to capture the advanced metrics, or else it just functions as a basic weight reader. My Whithings smart scale automatically uploads all measures via WiFi, no app needed. Also, while I love the data, setting up a second profile for my partner was headache-inducing and far less intuitive than it should be. The "smart" recognition can get confused if our weights are similar, leading to some profile juggling. Despite these issues, this is a fantastic tool for data nerds and fitness buffs who want to know exactly what their body is made of, beyond just gravity's pull. It offers clinical-style insights at a home-friendly price point, provided you have the patience to navigate the app and handle the extra hardware. It’s accurate, insightful, and motivating, even if the user interface could use a little polish. Bottom line: This Masmssm scale is an excellent choice for anyone who takes body composition seriously and loves analyzing data trends. The handle sensors provide a much deeper level of insight into muscle and fat distribution than standard scales can offer. While the build quality of the handle could be better and the app connectivity requires you to be present with your phone, the wealth of information provided makes it worth the effort. It is a powerful tool for tracking specific fitness goals. It gets 4 stars in my book and I can confirently recommend it if you love fitness data, but skip it if you just want a quick weight check. Pros: 1. Handle sensors provide detailed segmental analysis. 2. App syncs easily with Apple Health. 3. Weight readings match my doctor's scale. 4. Batteries were included in the box. 5. Large display is easy to read. 6. Tracks twenty-eight different health metrics. 7. Voice prompts guide you through measurement. 8. Sleek glass design looks very modern. Cons: 1. App must be open to record measurements. 2. Retractable handle feels a bit flimsy. 3. Multi-user setup is very frustrating. Read more

Great scale love it!! I would recommend it Read more
I'm a 67 year old woman that needs to lose weight so when I saw this scale I ordered it, thinking it would be really helpful as a smart scale with numerous features. Full disclosure, I soon became overwhelmed with everything so I gave it to my adult son to try out if he would give me his honest opinion. This is what he said... It's awesome! I initially misunderstood the concept because I thought the bar on rope attached to it was for exercising with or something lol, but that's to help with all of the cool measurements it does, since it calculates through holding onto it evenly. The scale and rope were attached to begin with, so no assembly required... I thought it might need to plug in to an outlet, but its battery operated and came with the batteries. Connecting it with my iPhone was easy- scanned the QR code to download the app, signed up, and connected it through Bluetooth. It walks you through the process when you stand on it and pull the bar up and hold it at a 45 degree angle. The only thing I can imagine being a little tricky for some people is having the app in front of them while holding onto the bar, I have the scale in front of the window sill though so I was able to put my phone there to double check instructions/pop-ups to make sure I was doing it correctly. I did have slippers on when I tried it at first, but should have known it needs accurate results with them off, since it monitors through each foot's position on it (socks seemed fine). The app also has a heart rate monitor, which I don't think uses the scale, but is checked through the phone instead- you cover your finger over the camera lens and put your other hand behind it to block the flash and it starts to rate your heart beat, very neat although I have an Apple Watch that monitors heart rate so it's not that necessary for me in particular. Regardless it's cool to have it stored in this app with the rest of the results. The results of the scale are really where it shines- it monitors weight, BMI, body fat, fat mass, fat-free body-weight, muscle mass, muscle rate, skeletal muscle, bone mass, protein mass, protein, water weight, body water, subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, BMR, body age, WHR, and ideal body weight. Some of these stats I don't know much about but it shows the individual results on the main page through a slide scale from "Low" to "Standard" to "High" (some of which say "Excellent" instead of High) and a few that go up to "Very High" depending on the stat. It also shows percentage or weight on each of those stats, and I can identify what I need to work towards- the gist of it seems very accurate from what I assumed personally, I have "excellent" muscles and protein apparently but I need to lose a lot of fat and weight. What's really cool is with these stats and my Apple Watch which assists with the exercise and health apps from Apple, I can dial in this info to target my ideal body weight and how many calories I actually need to burn a day to get to that target, and since the scale tracks each time I jump on it next, it will show my progress from day one and on through the Chart section with all of those stats mentioned above with bar charts showing X as the number and Y as the date. The last feature the app has as a section is a "Report" tab, which is a shareable form that has all of the above stats neatly on one page. It shows an overall body score as well, and common exercises that show how many calories I would burn by doing them for my particular body. We haven't tested it yet, but it also allows multiple accounts- so my fiancé can also sign up for it and then jump on the scale to get her results separate as well. I'm not sure how it knows who is on it in general yet. If someone else were to use it without signing up I wonder if it would think it was me... Probably not, I think because the stats are connected through Bluetooth/phone, it would know I'm not on or near it for it to be me. Overall great device, I really can't think of anything that is bad about this (other than some of my personal results I need to work on lol). I give it a 5/5, with the caveat that it does need a smart phone to get the most out of it (otherwise it's just a regular scale)... most people have that, and my phone is ~8 years old so it doesn't need to be anything too fancy, but might be good to know for anyone not paying enough attention. So disappointed 😞. I will be returning today. The app installed nicely, but it would not take my measurements, kept getting reminders of where to place my feet and hands on the sensors, and after an hour of trying I gave up, it should not be that difficult. My guess is it might night be sensing my weight on my left side of body due to a car accident I was in and how my body healed it thinks my whole heel is not on the sensor. I've used ones at gyms and could get my measurements so even though my heel is a little small and lifted on my left foot I feel it should have worked. I saw all the great reviews and was a reason I purchased but it was terribly frustrating for me and I would not recommend and would give 0 stars if I could. Read more
