This is a great invention that probably should have been included with the smart stand for iPad initially, but none the less, I'm glad I now have it. Basically its three clips that come in the package along with a 3M pad that sticks to the back of the iPad to make it easier to stand (like a brace). The clips attach to the Smart Stand for iPad and manipulate it to make it stand in 3 or 4 different ways. As I've found trying to look for different positions on various websites, you don't need both clips to make it stand, just one which is nice. If you lose one, you have two backups. As lame as it might sound, it's very convenient to have them. I've used it on various occasions. That being said, I use the triangle (folding the smart stand by itself) the most even after having these clips. So you can get by without having them, but for the price point, it's still a neat add on for your iPad. In the end, I really like this product and say there is no reason not to own the smarter stand clips Read more

Saw this product on a tech blog and thought I'd check it out, as I often have issues with my iPad while flying. It does provide nice angles, but sometimes the weight of the iPad itself is too much and will slide around on a flat surface, such as the tray table on an aircraft. Good product though. If you're debating getting one, I would, as it is a good purchase. UPDATE: I had misplaced the silicon strips that come with the product, and they helped to minimize the sliding I was seeing due to the weight of the device. However, the plastic clips that hold the cover in place have scratched up the screen protector I have, and am wondering what would happen without it there--would they scratch up my glass screen? Great product though Read more

After a bad accident with my brand new iPad and my brand new navy blue leather Smart Cover, I put the Smart Cover on the shelf and left it there for months while looking for a solution to it detaching so easily. I tried a couple of back covers, but wasn't pleased with them and still found myself confronted with the lack of positions available with using the Smart Cover. I removed the Smart Cover and put it on the shelf. Then I saw the Kickstarter promotion for the Smart Stand and was impressed but skeptical of the project getting off the ground. Months passed, my Smart Cover was still on the shelf collecting dust and wasting my investment of $70 and I saw that the Smart Stand was actually in production and getting some good reviews. I bought mine last week, just before the price changed from $14.99 to $10.99, but after receiving it and installing it, I am so pleased that I don't even care about the extra four dollars I spent. It really does exactly what the video demonstrates! I am giving five stars for it meeting my expectations and needs. If I hadn't found a work-around for what is a minor complaint to me at this time (it wouldn't have been when my cover was brand new), I would have only given four stars. Installation was not as smooth as I expected but it does state on the instructions that the clips are tight in the beginning. I had seen a pic of a Smart Cover that had a rather deep line on it made when the clips were installed and knew that this could be an issue. But since my Smart Cover was gathering dust anyway, I was prepared to deal with that. Installation did cause a line mark on the leather, but I feel that it will probably fill out in a few days and I'd rather be using the cover with a line than not with it in perfect condition. I since discovered that it is just as easy to install by just pushing it on right where you want it and pulling it off to change the position and this does not seem to leave the mark that sliding on initial installation does. There is a small learning curve involved with exactly where to place the clips in order to get the position that you want, but the instructions include clear guidance and illustrations. I am using the clips with the Apple leather Smart Cover and a Zum SC Ultimate Smart Cover Lock on a 4th Gen iPad. I am typing this review with the cover attached and the clips holding it in the perfect place for a person sitting up in bed with the iPad on my knees. My search has ended. By the way you get bonus clips and pads with this item. Read more

Yes, I was skeptical. But I must say, I am using it on my iPad Air and I am happy. With the reduction in size, there are only 3 folds to the Apple Smart Cover. But I was able to get the angle I need easily. I am using the black clips with the black apple leather case. Yes, there are marks on the leather. But I am okay with that. they work well. I would be interested Read more

Pros: - Inexpensive solution - Tiny and Lightweight - Simple yet effective design! Cons: - The inside gripper tooth will chew up your leather cover There is a sharp ridge in the inner channel of the sliders that is intended to create a tighter, grippy fit. This has obviously created a lot of havoc, because they started throwing an instructional insert in the box that suggest you sand the inner channel to avoid scratching. Sanding this down is an absolute MUST -- and I strongly recommend that you sand them completely flat. DO NOT put these on your cover or test their functionality before you sand them !!! This is definitely true for the leather covers. I'm not sure whether the vinyl covers have the same issue or not. I did several tests (sand, test, sand) on mine, which is the 2013 iPad Air and the Apple leather case. It was only because I was super careful that I didn't trash my case. There is still a very faint scratch on one side from my first failed test. I had to sand mine 100% flat. Once you get past this hurdle, it's a really neat product that works as advertised! Read more
