It just works. It does look strange, but I have fewer cuts and bruises on my face and head—NONE—when I am wearing this non-bulky and comfortable helmet. The main reason for me to order this device was that I cut my scalp open on the many nails from a roof decking. Being on blood thinners makes this a real issue that is potentially dangerous, SO INSTEAD of having my family ban me from projects, I got this helmet instead. Works great in the attic. In the basement, with a 5'11" clearance height and HVAC ducts, gas lines, and water lines mounted even lower, hitting my head was also an issue. Again, this helmet works great to soften the blow hitting my head on a pipe and prevent the skin from damage. I'm pretty good at always wearing it when working on remodeling my home. The face guard is great when stripping plaster and lath off the ceiling to protect my eyes. The hearing protection does not fit me well, and I can't manage to keep it attached to the helmet, so I have not benefited from it. It could just be a user error, but the attachment is awkward, IMO. This is one of the best fitting hardhat's I have used. I think that is due to the band in the back where the tensioning wheel is located. The band has 2 points of rotation and when I put the hat on and turn the tensioning wheel the band seems to automatically go in the optimal position. This hard hat is comparable to the petzl vertex and I actually prefer it over the vertex. I prefer this hard hat's tensioning wheel being at the back of the helmet and like I previously stated the band in the back is better for me. The band in the front has padding that is adequate. It is not fantastic but it works fine and is a cheap upgrade if you see fit. The visor stays up when you want it up and stays down when you want it down. The earmuffs click in easily and they have a firm snap onto your ears. I don't have a big head and sometimes earmuffs on helmets don't fit me that well. These were ok, but not perfect, but better than the petzl vertex for me. Larger heads will likely have no problem. Overall this is a great helmet especially considering all that you get the earmuffs and visor with it. Read more

This is a good compromise between my normal hard hat and my bump cap. I can wear this all day and use it for the Fab and Subfab that I work in. Using this lightweight hard hat allows me to just bring one hat to work. The fit is comfortable and light. I took the ear protection off, but will use it for the super noisy areas. The faceshield may come in handy if I forget my safety glasses. Great deal. I love it! The quality and feel is excellent and seems like it will last until I lose it. Read more

Let me start by saying that I don't work in an area where I have extensive, if any, experience with a hard hat and I would be using this for protection when doing ordinary things where extra head protection is warranted, ie, felling a tall shrub or small tree as well as overhead drywall repairs. And so I can say with certainty that this definitely is a lightweight hardhat that is appropriate for those purposes. It is not heavy duty and I would not rely on it for more intense applications, but household repairs are a solid yes for this hardhat.
