After many years of loyal service from my Logitech remote, I finally found a replacement that truly feels like an upgrade rather than a compromise: the Sofabaton X2. This is actually my second X2 — we now have one in the media room and one in the living room — and that alone says a lot. I’ve used Sofabaton’s earlier models (and a few other brands), but the X2 is the first one that really comes close to replacing what many of us considered the gold standard. The build quality immediately stands out. The solid aluminum design gives it a premium, substantial feel in the hand — not cheap or plasticky. The ergonomics are excellent, the weight feels just right, and the backlit keys are a huge plus in a dark room. The small color touchscreen is responsive and makes switching activities or devices intuitive and fast. What really sold me is how well it integrates into a modern setup. I use webhooks for home automation, and the X2 handles it beautifully. It’s not just a TV remote — it becomes part of your smart home ecosystem. For anyone who has a more advanced entertainment or automation setup, that flexibility is a big win. Setup and configuration are also noticeably improved over previous models. It’s easier to add devices, customize activities, and fine-tune commands than it used to be. Is it perfect? Not quite. There’s still room for refinement, and it’s not inexpensive. But if you’re looking for the best all-in-one remote short of going fully custom, this is it. For me, the Sofabaton X2 is the closest thing currently available to a true high-end universal remote replacement — and I’m genuinely happy with the purchase. Read more
It is a good remote – but: . Instruction manual is not fully explanatory. Since you cannot change batteries yourself, it will stop working when batteries are worn out. It would also be an advantage if the power supply had adaptors for overseas customers. Read more
I started with Logitech Harmony years ago, moved to the previous SofaBaton model a couple years back, and just upgraded to the X2. This is easily the best remote I have owned. The hub makes a huge difference. It handles IR, Bluetooth, and RF without issues, and I no longer have to point the remote directly at my equipment. Even with components inside a cabinet, everything responds quickly and consistently. The IR learning feature also worked perfectly for a couple less common devices in my setup. The touch screen is a big improvement over the older model. It is responsive, easy to navigate, and makes switching between activities simple. Once activities are set up in the app, they just work. One tap powers everything on and selects the correct inputs without problems. Build quality feels solid and premium. Buttons are well laid out, battery life has been excellent, and the charging dock is convenient. If you are coming from Harmony or an older SofaBaton, the X2 is absolutely worth the upgrade. It finally feels polished and reliable. Five stars. Read more
I was hoping to replace our "obsolete" URC-RF20. The SofaBaton is nice hardware but the user interface and programmability is not great. There is no single hard button to turn off all devices in your system without creating a distracting touchscreen entry. Our super old URC-RF20 is easier to program, has more hard buttons, and my wife finds it easier to use. URC-RF20 Hardware is not as nice, but it works. Too bad they are not sold anymore :-( I returned the SofaBaton and we're back to old faithful... URC-RF20. Read more
I love this upgrade! It's more responsive, more satisfying in the hand, has great button feel, and an improved key layout over the previous model. The premium metal build is a lot like an iPhone in quality with similar thinness. I've had no issues with configuration or compatibility. The software is feature rich. It takes a little getting used to. But it's extremely powerful and you can set up any macro you can think of via any method of communication, complete with delays and custom signals. They also have great support staff who helped me with my last remote. They stand by their product and supported their warranty on my old unit. Finally a quality successor to the discontinued Logitech Harmony line. Great work Sofabaton! Read more
Faster response time, designed more like a common remote (no scroll wheel!), brighter screen, and much more substantial feel, and an excellent user interface. Still a little difficult to set up some activities, but worth the effort. As long as the long-term reliability is there, I will certainly recommend the X2 for those in need of a universal remote!
