This power supply does the job and provides consistent power once it’s connected, but the main downside is the adapter fit. The plug tends to loosen and can fall out more easily than expected, especially if the cable gets bumped or moved. When it stays seated, it works fine and hasn’t had any power drop issues. The voltage output seems stable and it’s usable for basic applications, but the connection doesn’t feel as secure as it should. For stationary setups it’s acceptable, but for anything that gets moved around, it can be a little frustrating. Overall, it’s usable, but the adapter fit keeps it from being a perfect solution. I purchased this universal 30w charger adapter because I was always looking for one cord or another to use in a laptop or a toy for my son etc. Needless to say I have a box of jumbled wires (which has now gown to two boxes) I thought that if I had 1 device that could take the place of all of those wires and I could keep it somewhere where I could easily find it, I would be way better off in the long run. So far I have already used it to charge up a netbook that I had lost the charger for years ago. I was able to charge it up and found a ton of pictures on it that I hadn't even remembered I had taken. That right there has made this purchase worthwhile. It is a very sturdy construction and comes with seven different tips that should cover any type of input that I have. Hopefully anyways. It also comes with a small key that allows you to change the power settings on the main box. This is the only part that I am afraid of losing, I wish it had a place on the plug where you could store it for safe keeping. For now, I will just keep everything stored in it's box until I need it again. I see this getting plenty of use in the future. I would recommend this to hobbyists or anyone, like me, that has a hosuefull of assorted electronics from years gone by with little clue as to where the power cord is. I have a large box of AC adapters from various recycled devices over the years. I needed a 5V adapter and while I had several, none had a connector that matched my device. I have a 10 year old photo frame (a fairly nice one) and it stopped working a few days ago. I was about to replace the frame, but did a quick multimeter test and found that the 5V adapter was only providing 4.5V. I took a chance on this very versatile solution. I didn't even need an adapter, it immediately connected, I set it to 5V, and the presumed dead photo frame came right back up. I'm going to get another one of these, very handy when you can't immediately locate the AC adapter you placed on a shelf 6 months ago. This is the second "old" AC adapter I've had go bad in the past year, this definitely makes for an excellent solution. If you have a "dead device", run a check on the adapter, that may be the root cause of your issue. On the product. It feels well made. When you select the desired voltage, you can feel it "lock in". I was concerned it wouldn't do that, that was not the case. Very happy with this product, better than trying to find a 5V adapter with a specific connector (especially if it turned out that wasn't the issue). The banner may be a bit misleading; The main output is 24W with an additional 6W USB port. This can be handy if you need to power two devices. My unit lasted for almost 3 years under constant use of the main output alone. I appreciate the LED indicator that confirms that the adapter is working. (This simple and useful feature is missing from so many other similar power supplies). A nice array of adapters is included. (None of the barrel adapters include a center pin). The connector plug of the main output is 5.5mm OD x 2.1mm ID barrel connector, which might fit a variety of devices without the need for an adapter. However, this plug is about 2mm shorter than the standard (10mm) length of the adapter plugs. This may present a connection issue, particularly if the OEM power supply includes a locking ring. This appears to be a design flaw. Such shortcomings may be resolved with the use of a short (6") extension cable with 5.5mm x 2.1mm male-to-female connectors. Vendors include Amazon, PCH Cables, Valley Enterprises, Show Me Cables, and Parts Express. Look for part number "VB870-DC-MF-6" or "DC-MF-6". Wall plug does NOT fold for travel. Caution: This power supply is NOT compatible with laptops or other high power equipment that would exceed the rated output.
