Got this not for a laptop, but a large pen display drawing tablet (Gaomon PD1161). The kind with a screen that acts as a monitor that you draw on. These frequently need some kind of stand to raise the tablet up from the table, and to allow for adjusting the angle. Stands specifically sold as "pen display stands" are more expensive and there are fewer choices out there. The price on this stand was very reasonable. This suits my needs just fine. I use this on a large lap desk on a couch. The stand is very heavy and has rubber feet so it doesn't slide around. I was really surprised about how heavy and sturdy this stand is. You can loosen/tighten the tilt adjuster as needed, I set it just tight enough so that it stays where I want it, but also allows for some adjustment as needed. If you will be using this for a laptop, and will be typing on its keyboard, the tilt should stay put with the pressure. The stand surface is a bit taller than my pen display tablet, and the 2 little tabs that hold the tablet in place do stick out a little bit at the bottom past the tablet bottom edge, but that's fine. The stand was designed for a likely thicker laptop so that shouldn't get in your way. If you are getting this for something very thin though, do note that those tabs might be sticking out a bit at the bottom. One slight annoyance is that you do need the included wrench to make more major adjustments on the arm. I haven't needed to tighten it up since i first got it, because I have it just tight enough where I can still adjust it with some force. But if you will need to adjust it more frequently, you'll need the wrench. I do think it would have been convenient to have some kind of little clips to hold the wrench on the base or something. It holds up a significant amount of weight! I wish it had an option to lock the rotation in place, rather than clicking each time I use it. I bought it for my Ableton Push 3 and other music equipment. It holds the weight perfectly, so very versatile! It can definitely hold up any laptop you could put on it. Comfortable to use, great range of angles, perfect size. Great value for the price. Definitely not made cheap! The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is that it doesn't lock in place. Read more

The product was well designed and materials used provided much support for my ipad. A tool to adjust both height and viewing angle was an added plus, although a small crescent wrench could be used as a substitute. The swiveling base makes side to side repositioning an added feature. Otherwise lifting the base and repositioning side to side viewing is a bit heavy and inconvenient. Base is extremely sturdy for using with my large ipad with a protective case. Read more

I purchased one of the these last year to put in the Pro Shop at the golf course as we use I-pads to check golfers in, sales of items in the Shop, and to maintain Tee times. It works perfectly: very sturdy, and the best part to me is the flexibility it has due to being able to rotate. An added bonus was being able to attach a credit card reader to the top (thanks alien tape..) I like it so much that recently I purchased another for my home office. I highly recommend this stand!
