I never would have thought about adding a horizontal, zippered pocket near the waistband for athletic shorts but once I tried this I'm spoiled. It's a perfect location for a phone and cards as they won't bounce around during activity. It's honestly a brilliant idea. Maybe this isn't uncommon but it's the first time I've experienced shorts with this type of pocket. These are very nice shorts with seemingly very good construction quality. My gut tells me they'll last a while. And comfort? Forget about it, it's great. The material is light weight, smooth and feels nice on your skin. The fitment on me is fine, not perfect but plenty OK. These shorts are true to size. I don't like the feel of the fabric. It has a plastic feel rather than a soft one. It also doesn't hang nicely, but bunches up a bit. They do wash and dry well. I was hoping to get another pair of workout pants in addition to the pair of lululemon shorts that I have. These certainly come in at a lower price point, and although the quality is a little bit lower than a lululemon pair of shorts, they are lightweight and breathable. All around, this makes them an effective pair of shorts. However, I do want to not that there is an interior mesh liner to these pants, that is somewhat bathing suit-like. I was not expecting this, as it is typical for me to wear underwear underneath these shorts, so this mesh liner posed a little bit of a nuisance. These shorts fit great. The integrated rear zip pocket is great for runners needing a place to stash a key. The fit is great as well - they are pictured size small on my 130lb, 5'10 15yr old son. The material is high quality and breathable - surviving several indoor soccer sessions as well as some weight training with ease.
