This prevents the possibility of something falling out of your pocket when sitting down and also is a deterrent to pickpockets, a rare but not unknown occurrence on some of the islands. I have searched for a pair of workout shorts that have a back pocket, but they are a rare animal. These shorts have a rear pocket, although it is on the right side. I'm used to carrying my wallet on the left side, so I find myself panicking when I reach for it on the left side and it's not there. I will get used to it. What I like is that both front pockets and the rear pocket, have zippers, and the zippers have nice long pulls that are easy to grab. I also like the black color with the lime green accents. The leg openings are a bit smaller than I'm used to, but for me that is a plus. I have chicken legs and they don't look like they are several sizes too big.
