I waited to write this review until I had used this drive for several months. I regularly use a flash drive for both backup and syncing of my several computers. Routinely I would access a drive 2 to 6 times a day and carry it my pocket most everywhere I go. Most modern flash drives work pretty well for my purposes except they tend to physically fail while they are still functional electronically. I need both type usb a and usb c connectors. Many drives have some kind of swivel or slider mechanism to make this work, and every such drive I have tried has physically failed in one way or another-- won't lock in position, swivel becomes hopelessly loose etc. With this drive there is no slider to wear out. You could lose the usb a cap, but it is slightly magnetic and has never come off in my pocket. The usb c cover is built into the drive and pivots open. So far it seems to be holding up well. The drive is made of metal, feels solid, and moves large files quickly. You can get faster ssds, but this is quite fast and pocketable. It worked just fine on Windows, Mac, and Android. Over the years, I have purchased dozens of thumb drives, micro SD cards, and other small storage devices. These have covered the range of brand names to non-brand names and offering storage from 2gb to 2tb. As is often the case, the advertised specs often do match real life performance. This thumb drive is different. I regularly transfer multiple large files between desktops, cell phones, tablets, and such and so I have a good idea of which of my options is akin to watching paint dry and which could be called amazing blazing. This SSK 2tb drive is one of the latter variety. Having compared it to Kingston, Sandisk, Samsung, and perhaps others, it is the best thumb drive that I have found. The bonus is that it offers 2tb of space giving me overhead to avoid immediately deleting files that I may need to carry to other projects. As a bonus, it is manufactured out of sturdy metal that feels costly as opposed to common plastic or composite material. Finally, as others have mentioned, the access to having a standard USB on one side and a C connector on the other side means that I have near universal compatibility between my devices. The metal housing is designed very well, the cap fits snugly and it really does the job and quickly. The interesting thing about this is that you do not have to eject the thing, like every other thumb drive I have ever had. There isn't even a menu option for eject. It is large enough to do my transfers easily and the copy rate is quick and I am very happy with my purchase. I think for 1 1TB drive this is pretty amazing for the price. I transferred about 1.2 TB of data. Transferring using the USB-C was NOT very fast (like 10-20 MB/s) and at one point it locked-up during the transfer. I was ready to return it. But this thing was so nice and so well made, being metal- I thought I would give it another chance. I re-formatted the drive to exFAT again, and tried the whole thing over using the USB-A 3.2 plug instead. This went much better averaging about 110MB/s. It also did not lock up during the transfer. The only downside is that these large transfers get the drive incredibly hot- I measured 132F (55.6 C). It's actually a good thing it's metal so that the heat can radiate out. For smaller transfers it doesn't get nearly that hot. Not sure why the USB-C was an issue, I didn't worry much about it (and didn't test it again) since the device I will be using this with primarily only has a USB-A 3.0. Read more

550MB/s is super fast with my Windows 11 already. Very dependable and no errors or issues at all. No need to buy more expensive and even faster model. Plug in and it shows up immediately on MY COMPUTER. Small enough and easy to carry even most of the time I just leave it in my USB plug connected to my laptop. Very satisfied and nothing to complain.
