If you’re a gearhead like me you will be immediately drawn to this by the cool factor alone. While this is super cool, with this price tag you have to ask yourself, do i need it? If the answer is yes, then i can recommend this battery-stand whole heartedly. At 45,000 nmh its weight is right in line with battery packs in general. A similar nmh-sized battery pack without the stand and dc converter is about 1.5 lbs. At 3lbs it’s not going to break your back packing this into the field. It seems to maintain its lighter weight through the use of thinner materials and the stand legs seem a bit light for rugged use. If you are considering this for commercial purposes I would be concerned about it getting thrown about in the bed of a truck or the like. At 24w usage for the mini the 6 hour stated run time seems a stretch. I would be more comfortable betting on a bit more than 4 hours although that remains to be seen. In my use it will never be used for more than an hour at a time max. I will be using this in my rv or in the backcountry. I can see it being particularly helpful on overnight rafting trips in case of an emergency. My guess is I will rarely have this out and it will constitute a plan B if everything goes fubar. At this price that’s perhaps not the best use. I can’t say that the battery had anything to do with it, but as you can see from the speed test the dish on my porch, with my house blocking half the sky, does not get optimal speeds. Nonetheless this is a great piece of kit for anyone who sees themselves on a spot where connectivity is needed and power is unavailable. My challenge to the manufacturer. Is to develop and market a carrying case for the mini with the charging stand. The fishnet bag the stand comes with isn’t protective enough for the intended use. Better yet just get rid of the fishnet bag altogether and market this with a more suitable protective enclosure. Still 5 stars Read more

This combo tripod and battery pack for the Starlink Mini is a clever, compact option for remote work or camping where a traditional power source isn't available. The unit features a high-quality finish, and the carbon fiber legs extend and retract easily, making setup a breeze using the standard 1/4-20 threaded insert. My experience with the power bank: Charging and Output: I verified that the unit successfully recharges its own internal battery at 65W when using a compatible USB-C charger (keep in mind a wall adapter is not included). It also successfully provides a full 65W output via USB-C to charge laptops or phones. While the metal body feels premium, it does add some weight, so it might be a bit heavy for long-distance backpacking, but it is perfect for car camping or RV use. Weatherproofing: The manufacturer claims an IP67 rating, which is likely true when the silicone port covers are firmly in place. However, once you remove those covers to plug in the DC barrel jack, the connection doesn't appear to have any special weather sealing. While the Starlink dish itself might act as an umbrella in light rain, I wouldn't trust this setup in driving rain or heavy gusts. Battery Capacity: The advertised capacity is 166.5Wh. I performed two separate discharge tests after full charges and measured a consistent 135Wh. While this is about 20% lower than the spec, it is a fairly typical result for modern power banks and still provides a respectable amount of runtime for the dish (roughly 4 to 5 hours depending on usage). Portability: The included carrying bag is a nice touch, keeping the battery and the provided DC/USB cables organized during travel. Overall, if you can look past the slightly inflated capacity specs and the limited weatherproofing while in use, this is a very convenient and well-built accessory for Starlink Mini users. I give it 4 stars. Read more

In a grid-down situation, you need all of the sources of energy that you can muster. The Saunyoto 166Wh 45,000mAh Starlink Mini Portable Power Mount is the latest addition to my prepper collection. It works to provide hours of additional runtime to my mini, while being small and easily packable. Yes, it does have a little heft to it, but that's because of the massive battery as well as its premium construction. Press a button cleverly hidden at the base of the tripod, and that unlocks the legs which open smoothly while providing a stable base for the Mini to be attached to. This unit also saves you from having to buy a separate tripod for the Mini which offers even more value as a purchase. Four lights at the top indicate the charge level, with one light for ~25% up to 4 lights lit indicating up to ~100%. A DC as well as a USB Type-C cable are included in the kit, along with a nice, thick, carrying pouch. While the pouch helps to protect the device, I'd love to see the addition of a waterproof pouch in a future version of this product even though the unit itself is rated as IP 67 water-resistant. I know they were trying to cut down on weight by using plastic, but I wouldn't be averse to an all-aluminum model option for even more durability, as this thing is liable to get knocked around in backpacks, etc. This device is perfect for use while camping in the great outdoors, and really helps you get more hours of use out of your Mini. The Saunyoto 166Wh 45,000mAh Starlink Mini Portable Power Mount is a no-brainer addition to the worlds favorite portable satellite dish. It's a 5-star product that I highly recommend. Read more
