This heat gun is very well built. Temp is variable in 10 degree increments through the 120 - 1100 F heat range. The digital display of temp setting and current discharge temperature are valuable features and the gun allows quick and accurate control to match the exact requirements for the task at hand. The design allows the gun stand on end without a stand and without disrupting airflow. The Steinel was a few dollars more than other brands. I bought this based on Steinel's reputation among professionals and the online reviews on several sites. I'm very pleased with the purchase.... great value - well worth the price. Read more

$110 worth of accessories, a nice carrying case, a new model HL 2010 E, 3 highly informative manuals and all delivered for under the discount price of the gun alone, what a deal! My HL 2010 E was made in Romania, not in China, and hence, did not have the dire warning about washing my hands thoroughly after touching the power cord. The previous reviewer is correct in stating that there are only 2 fan speeds. There are three "on" switch positions but the first one is fan only. Big deal! I really like all the gadgets they sent along and the manuals are amazing. Here I thought I was just replacing my old, worn out, tubing shrinker and I got a neat new, versatile thermal tool. So the case doesn't have compartments, so what? The stuff would just fall out of 'em anyway. Me? I'm satisfied. In fact, I'm delighted. Shrink tubing, stand by to be shrunk. I'm back in business. Bought this because I thought it was a quality product. Used it only three times for a very small period of time and then it would no longer work. What a disappointment to say the least!!!!! I would have been better off buying a cheaper one from Harbor Freight...probably would have worked four times...and for a lot less money. The quality you thought you were paying for is just not there! Read more

Works as advertised, and included all of the bits listed in the advertising. I have been using it for plastic welding and have been completely happy with it. It works very well and warms up quickly. The temperature control seems to be very accurate and removes a lot of the guesswork from the welding process. This unit was more expensive than some of the alternatives; the extra money gets you things like a case, multiple outlets, digital temperature control, etc. I don't know about longevity yet (recent purchase), but Steinel has a reputation for making long-lasting tools. I picked the "special" 25th anniversary addition because it was slightly cheaper than buying the heat gun by itself (even without considering the extra tips and case that I would have had to buy). That will eventually change (presumably); when that happens I would still recommend getting either just the gun or the full kit, depending on whether or not you actually need the extra attachments that come with the "special" version. Works very well. Stripped varnish from the woodwork on my boat without burning the wood at all. Case is plastic with metal corners, but it is kind of nice and pretty functional. Have not done any plastic welding yet. Read more

Excellent quality, works as specified. Easy to change temperatures, solid build quality, light enough to hold for extended use, comfortable grip. My only complaint would be the case is sort of generic. It's doesn't really "hold" the gun in place and accessories easily will fall out of the internal pocket. Not a deal breaker, but just noting it's not custom to fit the heat gun and accessories. Read more

Heat gun is very durable and reasonably accurate. Its about 25-35 degrees cooler than the indicated temperature midrange and higher. If you need better accuracy you might look at a different model. Most heat guns are off the higher the temperature gets. The different tips included make this a winner!. The hard plastic case is adequate but I ordered another hard plastic case from Steinel which holds the gun and attachments more secure. For the better case search Steinel 40100 here on Amazon. Heat gun made in Romania. Read more
