I needed a light for my attic space. Half of the area already has lights, but I was doing some renovations and decided I would just add one in the other half to permanently light up that area. I had to run some romex over to where I needed and add a junction box, but once that was done, installation of this light was easy. I just put a hook up in the truss where I wanted it to go, hung the light, then brought the wires back to the junction box. It was that simple, now I have daylight in my whole attic. It's the small things in life, I guess. If you can hook up simple wired devices, this is no trouble and provided ample light in that area which is obviously very dark. I did not use nor hook up the dimmer wires, so I'm not sure of how they work or how hard they make the install. The device is made of aluminum and appears that it might be able to be ran over by a truck... very good quality. Functionality was as simple as turning on a switch. It isn't the cheapest light, for what it is, but it is rock solid and will illuminate well, so the value is there. I would recommend. Read more

This single UFO high bay light is incredibly bright and a huge upgrade for my garage workshop. At 150 watts it puts out more than enough light to illuminate the entire space evenly, with a crisp 5000K daylight color that makes everything look clear and detailed. The dimmable feature is a nice bonus, letting me adjust brightness depending on the task. It was easy to install with the included hook and chain, and the build quality feels durable with good heat dissipation even during long hours of use. No flickering, instant on, and it runs cool compared to older fixtures. Energy savings are noticeable too. Perfect for a barn, garage, or shop setup. Read more

I took one star off only because this install took some professional knowledge that I had to research into how to use the dimming function. Not an easy plug n play and install a cord end cap like I originally thought. But well worth the asking price. This little light lights up my entire garage all by itself, way better then the traditional fluorescent fixtures my house came with, and it saves me on energy bill costs since it’s LED. Read more

There are all kinds of different UFO lights—different wattages, different color temperatures, different mounting styles, and different ways they’re powered and controlled. This one hangs from a ring at the top, and the light color is a neutral white. It’s not a harsh bright white, but more like the tone of many city streetlights: white with a slight touch of yellow. To me, it feels like it puts out about as much light as a streetlight. It’s pretty bright. This one is direct-wire only with three main wires—there’s no plug. It also includes two additional wires for dimmer control. They recommend using one of these dimmers: Lutron NTSTV-DV, NFT-IV, DVTV, IP710, DS710-10Z, or RH4FBL3PW. The instruction booklet explains different mounting options and tells how to wire the main power, but it doesn’t go into no detail on wiring the dimmer beyond listing the compatible models. The entire light is solid aluminum, which also works as a big heat sink. It’s rated as water-resistant, and from looking at the top, it’s sealed extremely well. There’s nowhere for water to pool or seep in. It’s essentially one solid piece of aluminum. The wires come out of the top through rubber grommets that look very well sealed. Overall, it looks like a well-built light. They claim a 17-year lifespan, and if it really holds up that long, I’d say it’s a very good value for the money—especially considering how much light this puts out from such a small footprint. Perfect shop light! This thing is bright! Seriously though, it’s a great shop light, it’s well built metal housing makes it seem like it will last a lifetime. It comes with a 3/8” eye hook that can threaded in or get some 3/8” all-thread and get creative. It’s a warm yellow glow which I enjoy for working. It works flawlessly with no hesitation when turning on the light switch. Some bigger lights need a warm up time, this does not. It is capable of being used with a dimmer but I just use mine regularly. I believe this style of lights are meant to be up higher for better efficiency, mine is roughly 11 feet high and works great. If you are looking for a good shop light with a good value and great functionality this would be a good choice, I’m happy with mine. Read more

This small LED light replaced 7 overhead troffer lights in my workshop with 20' high ceiling. The fixture is a very spartan. A metal disc measuring about 11" in diameter. It has a pigtail for power consisting of hot, neutral, and ground. Separately are two wires for a 0-10V dimmer. There are certain models of dimmers listed in the well written, easy to read manual. This one light is putting out enough light that I can eliminate 7 overhead fluorescent troffer lights and still light my workspace well. I haven't connected it to a dimmer yet, but I will update this review if I do get a compatible dimmer for it. This fixture has worked well for me for over a month with no issues. Read more

I wired this up temporarily to test and it's bright! It also generates a lot of heat but it should be fine because the enclosure is a clever heat sink design that allows air to pass through and keep it cool with convection currents. There's a couple different mounting options; a threaded hole at accepts an NPT fitting, a loop that screws into the hole, and screw holes for a bracket. Unfortunately there isn't much in the instructions about what kind of bracket mount is needed. I'm planning to use this as a mounted work light so that information would have been nice. The instructions aren't great and leave something to be desired. They explain how to wire up the light but not the dimmer. They do list some compatible low voltage LED dimmers though so that should hopefully steer non-electricians in the right direction. Read more
