This is the best compost bag hands down. Compost bags have become mandatory, so I started buying bags. I landed in these just a few days ago, they cost a little more, but the value of what I get makes them a much better overall deal and value. Why? It can fit in my 1.3 gallon bin perfectly and also has handles so when it bin is full is much easier to pull out and tie up. Also, if there is a Tupperware full of leftover spaghetti on trash day, I can just grab a bag, fill it, tie it, carry it out by the handle and drop it in my compost bin. Large deposits can go straight out of the house much easier in this bag than any other bag. Which means we are more likely to use them, and less likely to get fined for dining food in our trash cans. The bags are nice and thick, very durable and so far I haven’t ripped one of them yet even with a few pounds of spaghetti. I like the green bags matching my green bin. I am also told the bright green bags make them easier to be seen when these bags are getting sorted at the land fill and going into compost These are the best bags I’ve tried, no doubt, I tried many others and they didn’t work as well as these. After my last compost bags neared the end of the roll, they were functionally ineffective as the bottoms would rip open when being separated from the roll of bags, hence, I found these bags as a replacement. These bags separate off the roll easily and fit my small kitchen compost container well. The handle tie tops make them easy to remove from the container and allow me to quickly place into my large outdoor composter. At this time, I cannot state the decomposition rate as it is too soon, but I do appreciate the robustness of the bags when transferring as they held up nicely during the process. As with every bag I have tried, there is a bit of moisture that accumulates at the base of my kitchen composter, which sometimes has caused other bags to deteriorate and catastrophic failure to occur when transferring. ***update*** my local home pickup compost company just sent out an email saying that compostable bags can really mess up their machines and do not use any of them for their facility. These are the exact bags that they showed in their picture. Bummer! The bags that I've had in the past always seem to drop out the bottom when I lifted the bag out which drove me crazy! So I stayed away from them for a while. I read a bunch of different reviews on bags but was having a hard time finding ones that supposedly didn't leak and were close to my new 1.8 gallon compost bin. I remember just throwing a couple of mushrooms into the previously used bags and the entire bottom ripped out. Very impressed with these so far! I literally put stuff in that was full of moisture from being rinsed in water and I actually put in a paper towel that was soaking wet that I partially squeezed out & 2 days later I lifted out and the bottom DID NOT fall out! Not sure if that should worry me as far as biodegradable? But I love that they hold up! And these are certified & definitely the best so far! Because of the handles and the angled bottom I feel like they semi-comfortably fit my 1.8 compost bucket that is also lined with plastic just in case of a failure, so depending on the size of your bin you may want to size up.
