pure cotton, qite thick. they will most likely shed in the wash and dryer too, but I ghave had a set for 5 years still in use, slightly faded but just fine. I make sure they get off the floor to air dry if they get soaked, and I vigorously shake them out now and then. Wash alone not with towels or clothes. Use cold water, gentle cycle, use limted soap and a fabric softener in a second rinse cycle to get ALL the soap out. Let air dry until just barely damp then low heat in the dryer to finish. That is how my first ones lasted several years, and why I got a second set. People who don't want to be bohtered to take that sort of care should skip the natural textile rugs (like 100% cotton) and go with something man-made like polyester which can be tossed into washer and dryer. The rugs appear to be very nice and a good size except for the backing does not hold the rugs to the floor. The edges flip up if you catch your foot on the edge. If you want a rug that has good rubber backing don't buy this set. This rug is nothing you would want to buy. It's a ripe off. I washed the rugs for the 1st time and they fell apart. The fibers are all in my washer and they are not usable. I have to throw them away. i would send them back for a refund but do not want to pay a restock fee. Very thick and plush, like the matching towels. Works perfectly, high quality. Color true to photo -not a brown/red rust, but more of a beige/dark gold. Since I was decorating bathroom, the color was important, and matching the photo was just what I wanted. Read more

I had been pretty happy with these rugs . However, the first time I washed them they shed so much material that I did not want to put them in the dryer. Very surprised and NOT impressed. Had to clean the washer out by hand then , run an empty load . Read more

I put these down and they were shedding everywhere. Tried washing them and it only made things worse, plus I can’t get all of the lint out of the dryer now and there is a weird film leftover where I had to peel the lint off of the sides of the dryer. Read more
