The Explorer 24oz bottle is everything I wanted; it’s sleek but not too narrow like a Hydroflask, there’s a travel handle, it’s lightweight, and the lid is stainless steel. However, I’m returning it because I think the lid would be tough to clean (see photos). The space between the outer and inner parts of the lid is WAY TOO NARROW. Less than a centimeter. I’m not sure what to use to clean it—a straw cleaner? a q-tip? I can't see how I can get to the threading for deep cleaning. I considered buying the spout lid from S'well to swap it out but at $17 for a spout lid and a bottle that retails for $45. I find the whole thing too expensive. (I purchased this bottle for $22 with a coupon, but the spout lid would have cost as much as the bottle.) Update: After returning it I got "returner-remorse" and repurchased it (and got the same bottle I returned lol). I tried a different 18oz bottle and it was too small. I do love wide mouth bottles and this one is so comfortable to carry. I'll deal with the narrow lid later. Hopefully the spout lid will go on sale on Amazon. 5 stars - bottle shape, portability, lightweight 3 stars - insulation 2 stars - lid in terms of water tends to drip when you unscrew the lid. It's not leaking it's just due to the wide mouth. Read more

Hate the texture, it scratches by looking at it. But it does keep the water cold for a while. Read more
It keeps liquids at the temperature you can enjoy for quite a while. However I was disappointed with the exterior. I bought it in black and the black scratched off in spots the first time I used it. I think I could have paid less for something of comparable value that would hold up better Read more
I love water bottles. Most of have several bottles to fit different occasions. The S’well Explorer Stainless Steel insulated bottle meets many of these needs. The large opening allows to easily fit and add ice to make the drinks extra cold for those hot weather times. I also allow for easier cleaning and viewing to make sure it is clean. I have to use a flashlight to clean the narrow opening bottles to make sure everything is clean. The larger opening makes it easier to add drink mixtures from the many powder drinks without getting too messy. Water bottles especially with sugary drink tend to get moldy after a day and need extra cleaning. The larger opening helps again. Staying hydrated is very important. Study show most of us are under hydrated. The 24oz size is perfect. Not too small and not too big. Easy to carry around with the handle and it does fit most car drink holders. Although the description mentions drinks stay cold for 36 hours, I found the drinks start to warm to room temperature after about 12-18 hours. The hot drinks also tend to cool off after 4 hours. The only item I had problems with is water bottle’s top is difficult to clean well. This is a classic area where it tends to get moldy in between the seals. It is a fair trade off since the seal is excellent in keeping the drink cold or hot and the bottle leakproof. The bottle is eco friendly and designed well. It’s a beautiful bottle. Most of these high quality bottles are pricey but they are worth it and have more functionality than the typical plastic bottles. Get one for your collections. I've been gradually phasing out the plastic water bottles in the house, replacing them with this insulated steel kind, of which there are many brands. If you're paying 40-50 bucks for these things, it appears you will get very reliable insulation, as with this one. I filled this one up with ice on Friday afternoon, closed it, and opened it again on Sunday evening. The ice had melted but the water was still throat-chillingly cold. Besides the various colors and shapes on offer, the biggest variable element appears to be the top and how it screws on. There's metal on metal, metal on plastic, metal on rubber, seal rings, and so forth. Not that others are bad, but this one is notably nice. The mouth is nice and wide, allowing one to fit chunks of ice in. And the cap has a metal exterior, as pictured, but a thick rubber piece on the inside with, I'm guessing, grooves to receive the ridges on the outside of the metal mouth. The result is a long, smooth twist that completely seals the top while also allowing for an easy unscrew. It does squeak a little sometimes but it's not offputting. The cap has a thick rubber handle that seems durable. I fear this things will break over time, but this one should have a long life. I will update if it fails prematurely. The exterior is a matte finish that looks pretty sharp. It's also got a rough, almost sanded surface, which is a departure from other bottles I don't have any issues with the surface, but it's worth noting. As it happens, I kind of like it so far. The one strike against this bottle, for many users, will be the size. It's burly. I like it, and I like the silhouette, but it doesn't fit into the cupholders in either of our cars. That may deter some folks but I just don't use it for car trips. We're in an age of many water bottles for different situations and I think this one has an application. It's sturdy, functional, and slick-looking...it just doesn't fit in cupholders. I'm happy with this thing. Read more
