The short story is that these are the best nail clippers I've ever used - for finger- and toenails. Not gonna lie: They're pretty massive and kind of intimidating right out of the box. But their size is their best feature. The large cutting end makes it very easy to place the blade exactly where you want it, especially if, like me, your gut and lack of lower body flexibility can make clipping your toenails kind of a guessing game. Although the blades are large, their curvature makes it easy to get the clippers right where you need them. The long handles give a lovely amount of grip and leverage so you can cut even the gnarliest nail with ease. Think about the difference between using a paring knife that has a handle that's only as long as the blade vs. a paring knife-length blade on a full sized knife handle. What a delight! First of all, the packaging is so impressive on its own, I kinda fell in love with these before I even tried them, lol! They come in a silver metal box with a lid. They are housed in snug, black foam, along with a complimentary nail file. It seems to be made out of clear plastic material. It's not good compared to a regular emery board or "sandpaper" style nail file. But it looks almost elegant and gets the job done. When I finally picked up the clippers to cut my fingernails, I was impressed with its weight and durability! Then, I used them. The cutting mechanism is so smooth and easy, it was an actual pleasure to cut my nails. Luckily, they grow quickly, so I'll be able to use these again soon, haha! My nails are thick and sometimes, it takes actual effort to squeeze and clip with regular nail clippers. Not these. Easy as pie and super comfortable in my aging hand. Compared to normal large toenail clippers you can find at any drugstore or grocery or "Dollar Store", these are much better. They open much wider, for those of us with ugly or misshapen toenails, and they cut hard toenails with less finger or thumb strength. These seem to be a great value, among this type of nail clippers out there. Many I found cost 2x or 3x what I paid for these, apparently due to fancy packaging, or just the money-grubbing mark-up some people think they can charge for the same thing. I didn't buy the more expensive ones to compare (duh...), but I am more than happy with this clipper and its file. If you want to pay 3x, they have them out there... same thing, as best as I can tell from reviews and pictures. Be my guest. But if you want a great clipper at a great price, this one is entirely suitable and works very well for the intended purpose. Note that they mention clipping the nails of small pets. I have not tried that yet, but we have two small dogs that need clipping from time to time. So I might. They do open up wide enough for that purpose, and after using them on myself, I have no fear or concern about using them for small dogs and their nail or claw needs. Read more
