I was just going to give my review based on my own experience (which I will do) but I went ahead and made this video to address some things in those reviews. Come at me, but this lamp is great and I want to counter those negatives. First, it CAN be turned on while it's charging. It DOES come on with a touch. It also DOES need to have a long press of the power button to initially come on but you can dim it to OFF and touch the top to turn it back on. A gentle tap is all you need. As far as my own experience here, right after we used it we bought two more. This seller has 4 lamps similar and there are two of this exact model for different prices. Seems a bit odd but we bought the other for a little less. It took very little time to fully charge but my toddler loved taking it from room to room, changing the color over and over. Hers is more of a slap and she did drop it a few times and it held up to her "use". We went thriugh a nasty storm a few weeks ago and were left without power for 8 days. I took the kids to my sisters and my husband stayed for work. Easier to do when the wife and kids are safe. He used this lamp the entire time. He charged it in the car driving home and it lasted for hours. He charged banks at work so he could use them while he slept to charge it (and other items) so he could see during the day. Its a dark house, and we had the windows covered for the storm. It was essential for that week. After the first few days, thats when I bought more. They're going in our power outage kits, and this specific one will remain in our home always for the toddler to play with. Its a handy lamp and I'm sad people who spoke so negatively about it weren't able to really figure out how to use it properly. That could have been an error in the instructions, I tend to figure things out on my own "pffft who needs instructions?" and I didnt keep the box or papers so I cant pull them for reference. But, for a $20 rechargeable color changing tap lamp, that works for hours and takes very little time to charge AND can handle my toddlers "gentle-not-gentle use" I am seriously so pleased with it I couldnt recommend it enough times. This touch lamp surprise me is really good quality. It's really easy to use just charge it and it's ready. I love that you can change the colors to suit your mood. The touch sensitive sensor works great is very responsive. The colors are fun and vibrant bright. The light itself is bright enough to light up a room a bit brighter than a night light would. And it's a good size too love the design very modern could be used as a night light and a child's room. I think it's a lot of fun. The light holda the charge for a long time, and charges fast can be used while plugged in as well. We're actually charging it now to use during this winter storm that's coming we're expecting to lose power and this will be great to have. It's also small enough that you can be portable and you can take it with you. We are going to be using it on our travels in hotels and when visiting family. You can never have too many night Lights. The media could not be loaded. I really wanted to love this lamp because its a great size, it looks esthetic, and the colors are great. But it won't really work while it's plugged, the battery life doesn't last long, and you have to long press the button to turn off and on. I'll like to wake up, reach over and tap it for quick light, instead I have to feel around for the button, then set it down and tap for the light. That's just not efficient. I reckon a selling point is that you can pick it up and walk with it, but you have to make sure it's charged. I would prefer efficiency with this product. I would rather have a cord that connects to the wall and just be able to use without unplugging, charging and long pressing the button to turn on. Good light with a lot of soft colors to work with. Great for bedside or just illuminating a decent part of a room, but won't serve as a room's sole light source if you want things well-lit. The touch panel is pretty sensitive, but would've liked a bit more control over on/off and dimming rather than just rotating through the colors. If you want to turn the lamp off or on, you have to fumble around for the specific on/off button, rather than there being an option for it on the touch sensor. Read more
