Happy woth purchase

My 4-year-old is in speech therapy for weak mouth muscles and he’s obsessed with these talk tubes. She chews on them, while actually getting an amazing oral motor workout. His speech therapist says his progress in the last month has been huge. Plus, it keeps her happily busy while I cook or work. Total win. Highly recommend! Read more

High quality tools for improvement of jaw grading

This review is written by a licensed and ASHA certified speech language pathologist (SLP). This set of 4 different bite tubes are used in a specific hierarchy primarily for the purpose of assessing and remediating concerns related to a client’s jaw grading ability. Jaw grading skills impact feeding and speech sound skills. These bite tubes are also frequently used to assess a client’s need for TMJ stimulation. I recommend that parents who purchase these tools do so in conjunction with a licensed SLP or dental professional, trained in orofacial myology, who has recommended it. Please note that articulation deficits must be deferred to a licensed SLP, and cannot be treated by a registered dental hygienist who is trained in orofacial myology. Likewise, these bite tubes serve a specific exercise need and should not be used as general “chewies” for ongoing sensory needs. Other products are better suited for general ongoing sensory needs. These bite tubes are meant to be introduced to the client in a specific order to build jaw stability and chewing skills, to provide targeted TMJ input and graded jaw opening and closing to support clearer speech patterns, and promote rhythmic jaw movement to provide self-regulation. Prior to using the bite tubes, the client needs to be assessed for jaw instability, sliding, and open-mouth posture. Clients should not progress to the next bite tube in the hierarchy until they can achieve controlled compressions without compensatory actions or signs of fatigue. It is very important that the bite tubes are used only for targeted exercises and not for general or “recreational” chewing. The tubes should be used on both sides to reduce sliding or jutting and to promote symmetry of movement and jaw strength and mobility. A booklet is included in the package describing the proper way to hold and use the bite sticks, along with information about when to introduce the next stick in the hierarchy. After introducing the second tube (yellow) the client will continue using the first tube (red), and will complete their exercises using both sticks. Likewise, once the purple chewy is introduced, the client continues using the red and yellow tubes until they reach the mastery criteria. The booklet cautions that the use of these bite tubes should be thought of as a marathon, not a sprint, as it may take a client many months to a year or more before they complete the hierarchy. These bite tubes by TalkTools are a professional product of the highest quality. They are made of a food-grade material that is non-toxic and meets FDA standards. Although they are tough and made to withstand chewing, children should never use them without adult supervision. Their unique shapes make them easy to hold in place while the child completes the biting/chewing exercises. Color coding helps in remembering which order the tubes should be used when completing exercises. While these can (and should) be sterilized between uses, they should not be shared between clients. These are a professional grade product, well suited for clinical use, but may also be used for home practice of clinical exercises, since consistency is the key for the best possible outcome. I would not hesitate to recommend this bite tube set to any SLP or any other professional trained in orofacial myology. Likewise, I would not hesitate to recommend this set to the parents of a child with deficits in jaw grading for feeding or speech needs, or who need targeted TMJ stimulation for self-regulation, provided that parent is working with an SLP or other orofacial myology professional and is using the bite tubes as intended and prescribed by that professional. Thick, strong, and bright!!!

I requested this for my special needs 6 year old, he is a very aggressive chewer. Now thankfully he only chews on teething tools however he typically bites through them pretty quickly. The smaller ones we packed with him for school and kept the bigger ones at home. These things are beyond durable! They are thick and not hollow and brightly colored. Their build makes them easy to hold and size makes them easy to carry around and transport. We have had them over a month and they are still fully intact so I would say they are beyond functional. As far as price I think its not too bad at all since i've spent way more money on some that he chewed apart in 2 days. Read more

Keeps little hands (and sleeves) out of mouths

These chewing toys are exactly what I’ve been looking for for my son. He constantly puts his fingers—and in winter, his sleeves—in his mouth, and these have been a great alternative. We now keep one in my wife’s purse, one in the car, and one in his bag to keep him occupied wherever we go. Read more

Quality, Detail, Instructive

FOR: 8 year old girl, autistic, 2nd grade in special education with speech therapy Also grinds teeth while sleeping ***I am not able to report any form of success rates with these tools yet I am merely reporting receipt and my review of the product itself for now Having never heard of this before I was very intrigued by these bite tools. I also have a contact at CPS who has a child 9 years old with sleep apnea merely from still sucking her thumb, we think she may benefit from this as well. The tools are very well made, I was extremely impressed with the concept and construction. Then I went on to read the directions and the value went up. These days, directions are so ridiculously light l, everyone expects you to go online or whatever it’s so annoying but not here, be prepared to be prepared!! I tried the mouthpieces myself, obviously I am not going to do this to my child before I know what it’s doing, and it’s an easy ask if there really is reward so I look forward to finding out what that will be. I will definitely report any findings when they are found! Read more

Works exactly as intended!

These TalkTools bite tubes feel very sturdy and well made. The different sizes are helpful for gradual progression, and the material feels durable without being too stiff. They’re easy to clean and hold their shape well. It’s clear they’re designed with purpose, not as a cheap chew alternative. A solid therapy tool that feels reliable and thoughtfully designed.
