I used Thrive Causemetics mascara for years and thought that was pretty good, but I always wished that it was a little wetter, that it didn’t have phenoxyethanol and that it didn’t slightly irritate my eyes. Tarte Tartelette is everything I ever wanted Thrive mascara to be: First of all, it’s a true and very good tubing mascara. It’s wet enough not to have ANY clumps whatsoever and to coat my lashes evenly and perfectly, yet dry enough that it’s not a goopy mess that makes it so that my lashes can’t hold a curl. It doesn’t flake. It lengthens my lashes beautifully. It comes off easily with just water. It looks perfectly fine in the morning if I don’t wash it off at night. The brown color is a rich chocolate shade that complements my autumn coloring perfectly, not just a brownish black that looks essentially black once on. It’s the only tuning mascara I’ve ever tried that’s actually buildable; two coats looks dramatic, not clumpy and botched. I look like I have lash extensions. All this AND it doesn’t have phenoxyethanol. I absolutely love it. I have found the holy grail of mascaras. Read more

The Tarte Tartelette XL Tubing Mascara truly lives up to its name — it’s like lash extensions in a tube! From the very first swipe, my lashes looked longer, lifted, and defined without any clumping. The tubing formula coats each lash individually, giving that fanned-out, dramatic look while still feeling light and natural. What I love most is that it stays put all day — no smudging, flaking, or raccoon eyes, even in humidity or long wear. Yet, it comes off effortlessly with warm water at night, which is a big plus for sensitive eyes. The added peptides are such a nice touch — my lashes actually feel stronger and healthier after a few weeks of use. The brush design is perfect too: it separates and lengthens evenly, reaching every lash, even the tiny inner ones. Overall, this mascara is a total win — luxurious, long-lasting, and gentle on lashes. If you want bold, fluttery lashes without the hassle of falsies or extensions, the Tarte Tartelette XL Tubing Mascara is absolutely worth it! Read more

This mascara is so nice. It goes on without clumping and looks nice and natural, yet at the same time gives a nice full eyelash. Easy to take off and doesn't rip out your lashes like other mascara. Even the tube just feels nice and heavy and elegant. So much better than other mascara brands I've tried, and I've tried MANY. Just a good product that you won't be disappointed to buy. I was hesitant to spend so much at first, as I usually don't---but let me tell you, it was soooo worth it. I'll never go back to lesser expensive brands!!! I don't have to apply multiple layers to achieve the look in going for, and it dries quickly. It doesn't smear. Doesn't flake. All around just a very nice product. 10/10 stars for me!!!! I'll post photos soon! Read more

This mascara went on smoothly and comes off easily at the end of the day. I had no issues with flaking but my lashes did tend to clump or stick to each other. For that reason alone I probably would not repurchase. Read more

It gives my lashes noticeable length without clumping, and the tubing formula keeps them looking clean and defined all day. It doesn’t smudge, even in the heat, and comes off easily with warm water, which is a big plus. The brush separates well and helps create that natural lash-extension look. Overall, a great everyday mascara that performs just as promised. Read more

Having long lashes has always been a thing for me since like 4th grade when i accidentally found my moms mascara, and nothing has ever compared to this one!! i got one as a sampler from sephora and i came here to buy the full sized one and it’s literally lash extensions in a bottle. my lashes look so long and really help me gain confidence with as little as a coat or two. and the tubing part is so fun to take off, and it takes less than 20 seconds to wipe off with no harsh scrubbing. the only thing i’ve noticed is that my lashes stick together if i sneeze or something while i wear this but if you’re careful it’s okay! Great product! Easy to remove with water (though takes slightly longer than I was lead to believe from influencers promoting it). Easy to apply and layer. Flakes off the tiniest bit, but not a big deal. Read more

About me: mid-forties, and having a lot of issues with mascara transferring to above my upper lids. Grabbed Tarte travel-sized mascara here for $15 ($28 for full-size), and found a full-sized Maybelline the Colossal at a local bargain shop for $4 (normally priced around $9). In the photos, the Maybelline is on my right eye and the Tarte is on the left—first shot is after two coats (with a coat of my favorite primer first), and the second is after wearing for about 12 hours. The Verdict: Both mascaras delivered almost identical length and volume, with only minor end-of-day flaking. Neither transferred to my upper lids. When it came to application, though, the Maybelline brush was definitely the winner—it was easier to control and gave cleaner coverage with less clumping. Even after wiping the Tarte brush twice on a paper towel, it still left too much product on my lashes. Normally I’m a bit of a product snob, but the Maybelline costs half as much, works just as well, and applies more smoothly. Bonus points if you can find it on clearance, like I did—I’ll definitely be heading back to grab another tube before they run out! Regarding the Tarte XL - 4 stars for the product itself, but I’m dropping my rating to 3 stars for value and ease of use. Read more
