Display not aligned

ReviewerFebruary 6, 2024

Display on the left side is not aligned, gives me a headache from my eyes trying to focus. It works intermittently, flashing on and off. No adjustability. I was weary of ordering due to no reviews. Should’ve trusted my gut. Read more

Satisfied and unsatisfied all at the same time

Only history I have with AR/extended display glasses was the Oculus headsets that Samsung phones were attached to where you used your phone as thr screen. This offering is light-years ahead of using a cellphone screen as your display, but in some ways less sophisticated. I spend all day staring at code on computer screens. I am farsighted, so I do not wear glasses for work or reading, but I do for driving and anything else that I need to see distances well. Seeing as these screens are about 2" from my eyes, they should be fine, right? No. Edges are blurry. The TCL app that is supposed to unlock the potential of these glasses is terrible. The app gives you a virtual environment to explore with very little usable content. Only app available is a web browser. None of the interactive content works on my phone. Any games or apps used in this environment are all side-loaded (direct apk downloads from who knows where) so you will need to disable some security features of your phone (android) and the games I tried were not even compatible with my phone (Samsung S24 Ultra). The main software interface insists there is a firmware update available, but will not update, while a different area of settings states the firmware is more current that the one the other area says is available. The interactive environment is essentially a 180⁰ horizontal plane, but the center point of the plane slowly and methodically matches to the left, resulting in having to recenter the view every 30-seconds or so. In short, the TCL app is annoying and worthless. The windows app is a bit more pleasant, but requires setup every time you use it. You have to drag-and-drop the windows you want to interact with into a frame. Don't have Teams in your frame and you get a call or message? Take your glasses of and work with the desktop. Interacting with captured windows is descent, but the overall experience is clunky. As a screen mirroring device, it works well and is really the only solid use at this time. Picture is vibrant and clear (aside from my edge blur issues). Screen follows your head so you cannot treat it as a fixed screen that you can turn your head to focus on one area. Just a floating screen directly in front of you regardless of where you turn your head. Want to watch any of the multitude of vr 3d content out there? I have not found a way to do it. With better software, the potential is there, but it seems like a really expensive portable monitor at this point. Read more

Exceeded my expectations

Great glasses. Didn’t expect such clarity and ease of use. I had a Sony HMZ-T3, but the TCL is much lighter, easier to use, and with better resolution. Notably, the OLEDs in the TCL are made by Sony. There is a warm tint to the colors which I think is due to the blue light filter, and it is easy on the eyes. I have only tried it with HDMI (via Lemorele adapter, also on Amazon). It plays SBS 3D on YouTube and Kodi on Nvidia Shield, but did not support it on the latest Onn 4K Player. I went with this rather than the RayNeo Air 2 (also made by TCL) mainly because I wanted a device with a brand name. Other pluses include a hard case and a magnetic cable (which is better in my opinion than a USB in case the cable is accidentally pulled, it would detach rather than break the glasses arm off). The glasses are less shiny and advertised to have a bigger screen than the RayNeo (215” vs 201” I think). Edges of the display is a little blurry, but I’m waiting for the arrival of prescription lenses to see if that helps (I’ve been using them with my distance glasses). The glasses come with a frame for custom prescription. Main downside of the glasses and hence a 4-star review is the speakers. In most cases including voice they sound crystal clear, but they get quite distorted with piano and ambient music (basically very low frequency sound due to lack of bass). That’s a common issue with small speakers, I even noticed the same distortion with piano scores on my iPhone (when I put my ears close to the speakers). Ear buds can be used if needed. Finally, huge kudos to Focus Cameras for the free 1 day shipping and their quick reply when I asked for a replacement- based on my testing, there is nothing wrong with the speakers, it’s just a limitation of their size, so I’m keeping my glasses. Overall, very happy with glasses and would recommend them. Update 4/16/25: Still going strong. Used the glasses for many hours. The prescription lenses help immensely, you can get closer to the screen, and no blurry borders, though I find the lower edge a little tricky to fully see. I’m able to get the full picture, but with some adjustments. I found pressing down on the glasses arms help get the lower border into view. Again I’m exclusively using it with HDMI adapter. A downside is that I must disconnect USB power and HDMI and reconnect them in the same order every time to receive the HDMI signal. It doesn’t automatically accept an HDMI signal when connected. Not a major issue, and could be an issue with HDMI adapter. Another downside, these glasses only accept Full SBS in 3D mode, not Half SBS. I had to use an mCable Cinema Edition to upscale Half SBS and get it to display on the glasses. Read more

Almost a good product

aaron kaiserApril 9, 2025

For the price there not bad but very limited any time I tried to use the 3D it would look like double vision. And I never could get any of the software or the apps to work I have a phone that does support video display but none of the apps would ever work or come on or anything so I think it needs to be more refined. As for using it as the second display for my laptop or my legion go it worked great wonderful nice big screen awesome to play games on all day. Read more

An upgraded model

bron jaNovember 16, 2023

Owned a NXTWEAR S, the older version, and tried out this model from my friend. The quality is more decent than previous model. Screen size is bigger, not big gap but you can feel it. Also the image quality and sounds quality is improved a lot. 120hz is good for gamer. Read more
