So, I received this product wrapped nicely in plastic, it didn't have its own product box but was included with other items shipped through amazon. When I unwrapped the plastic, I opened the lid, it has a very nice and useful plastic cover just under the lid with a pull tab to open the actual contents inside. I am grateful for this kind of protection because if it gets knocked over accidentally it will not spill everywhere. I have to admit, I was skeptical of this product. I had never heard of charcoal being used to whiten teeth. You would think that being black, it would do the opposite and stain your teeth! right? but NO. I took the challenge. One thing it did do that I have to prepare you about though, is that while I was brushing it did make my teeth look a funny color of brown and black until I was done . Once I rinsed out my mouth, the dark color was gone and a brighter whiter color took its place. The only thing that did not wash away completely and return to its original color, was my tooth brush bristles. I fear they may be permanently darkened due to the charcoal, but this was expected and doesn't indicate that my tooth brush is dirty. Just that I've been using charcoal to brush with. It might lighten up once I begin using regular toothpaste again also. I used this product for a week twice a day. The thing that really surprised me is that the very first time I used it there was noticeable whitening. the picture I posted above was after just once use. After a week, I have whitened my teeth about 5 shades whiter than they were. Now, I've read a few reviews about using charcoal as a whitener and that it can be detrimental to your teeth. etc. From what I understand about it, is that as long as you don't over-use it, (and that goes with anything!) then, I don't see there being any real long term effects that would harm my teeth any more than drinking coffee and soda everyday. The point is, this product does what is claims it is supposed to do. It does it quickly and effectively. Use it wisely not like an addict trying to get an unreal shade of paper white. I would use this product over those whitening strips ANY day. I hate those strips. This teeth whitener has given me a new hope to be able to whiten my teeth without having to commit to months of strips to get the white shade on my teeth I feel comfortable with. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes. Definitely. In fact I am going to tell my friends and family about this product and might even buy more to give as gifts.
