I got the black color, which is the "Telesin Fun Shot Magnetic Grip 2". The black version has a controller that is rechargeable via USB-C cable, unlike the white version, which has a controller that is powered by a coin battery. As far as I can tell, this is the only difference between the white and the black versions. I've tried other magnetic camera grips, including those from JJC and KiwiFotos, but the Telesin grip is the most comfortable to hold. I use it with my iPhone 17 with an Apple Silicone MagSafe case. The magnet on the Telesin grip is stronger and provides a more secure attachment when attached to a magnetic case or directly to a phone with a magnetic back like an iPhone with MagSafe. Additionally, the Telesin grip has the fastest Bluetooth connection and disconnection, with no noticeable delay in shutter control, unlike the KiwiFotos brand. This Telesin grip features a two-stage shutter button: a half press for autofocus and a full press for the shutter. To access other controls, such as zoom and photo/video modes on iPhones, you need to go to Settings > Accessibility and toggle on Zoom. After that, tap the iPhone display with three fingers to return to normal. However, I don't find these additional controls, especially the zoom feature, very useful. Instead of using the default zoom levels of 0.5x, 1x, and 2x for my iPhone 17, it defaults to digital zoom. While the shape of the grip is comfortable, the grip surface is made of textured plastic rather than a rubberized material, which can become slippery if your hands are sweaty. Read more

I love this grip; it allows me to hold my phone to take photos or videos much more steadily, almost as if I were using a professional camera. The remote button works well for taking selfies or recording without touching the phone, and the magnets are strong, keeping it secure. It's lightweight and comfortable to use, even for long periods. Overall, it's an excellent accessory for content creators who want to record like a pro with their phone. A great piece at a good price. It has a very stable zoom function, making it very easy to use. It also offers moderate support for the photo and video functions. The grip Read more

The media could not be loaded. I am pleased that the shutter button and zoom buttons work out of the box on my Samsung Galaxy S23 (Android 15). No changes required to phone/camera settings. No special app is required. When you hold the zoom button, the zoom runs continuously in 0.1 increments. In video mode, it zooms from 1x to 12x in about 6-7 seconds. It looks fairly smooth in videos, as if a motorized zoom lens was used. That is what I was looking for, instead of the abrupt, jerky zoom I get using pinch-and-zoom. In camera mode, it zooms faster: from 1x to 30x in about 5 seconds. This device makes me miss my old school travel zoom camera a little less. The half-press focus function on my Samsung requires a tap and release (whereas I was trained to press-and-hold on real cameras). Half-press again to unlock focus. The phone tries to guess what to focus on and can be wrong. I will just tap the screen for selective focus. The two additional buttons move between camera modes (Portrait, Photo, Video, "More"). With my Samsung, when "more" is selected, the choices are within reach of my thumb. Good for switching to Pro Mode (or other special modes) with one hand. I am unable to wake the phone directly into camera mode. Holding button 1 wakes the phone into lock screen. I had trouble pairing the device at first. Took several attempts but now it seems to stay paired. I also experimented with an older phone and the only useful function was the shutter release. The other buttons do something, but nothing useful. The grip device came with a lanyard strap, but oddly there is nowhere to attach it on the grip. I guess the assumption is that you attach the lanyard directly to your phone or phone case. Read more

The media could not be loaded. The video shows the ability to charge this device, however, mine came with an area I have to unscrew and put a what I can only guess is a CR 2032 battery in. It came with one in there, however that one didn't work at all so I took this on my trip thinking I'd be good to go only to find that the battery doesn't work. I'm in another country, don't have one, so I am unable to use this device. Add to that that the magnetic hold on this device doesn't actually hold onto my phone. So all in all this is a complete bust for my trip. And unfortunately, I am outside of my return window. So take my advice and don't buy this one!! Read more

This device provides a good grip for my iPhone 15 Pro Max! However, there are two things I’m not sure about: 1. It forces you to use digital zoom. For example, if I’m zooming into a subject and the perfect crop happens to be between 1x and 2x, it uses digital zoom — which means a noticeable loss of image quality and detail. It would be better if users could choose how the zoom button functions, like assigning it to optical or digital zoom based on preference. 2. The little toggle button that switches between Photo, Video, and Portrait modes is a nice idea, but I wish it were programmable. For instance, being able to assign it to switch aspect ratios or quickly bring up Live, Timer, Flash, or Aspect Ratio options would make it far more versatile. Overall, it’s a comfortable and well-built grip, but giving users more control over the zoom and function buttons would take it from “good” to “fantastic.” I did use the grip to take that photo; Read more
