I needed two extension cords to place behind night stands in the bedroom. This surge protector lies flat against your wall; the cord is actually the thickest part. It's very cool, and is working great behind my couch. A simple swap out with big results. Previously, I had an old school extension cord, attached to a smart plug, plugged into the outlet behind my couch. It worked great, but my couch was always askew as this set up added over 3" to my outlet. This surge protector took it down to under .5".
